  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does Hyundai post information about total volume of cars sold for prior years?

I would like to see the 2009 total sales for the Genesis line..

They do, but they do not separate out the Genesis Sedan and Coupe. Others have posted links to the sales numbers (for all cars).

Three hundred per month, eh? That seems like a decent number. It also seems that we ought to be noticing more of those on the road! Three hundred per month and 150 are immediately garaged.

I'd be interested to know your source for this information. It contradicts all information I've ever heard before in that the sedan was selling much better than the coupe. It's hard to believe their selling 2000 coupes a month and only 300 sedans.

Well, ask and received.

I found some numbers.....

The volumes are really low.. but I am surprised by the v8 take rate...

Only 3600 sedans sold in 2009....

Is that your source? Edmunds doesn't track every car sold. I have no idea how they collect their sales data (maybe dealers report it to them) but it's not a complete tally of sales. They simply extracting representative information from the data they do have.

For example, they list ~11,000 units for the BMW 5 series in 2009, but there were something like 40,000 5 series vehicles sold in 2009.

yes that was my source, it was the only one that listed the sedan without the coupe

Right, so it's important to note that they only have data from a fraction of cars sold. If there are 20,000 Genesis sold in a year, they may only have data for 20% of those transactions. This is still useful information for mining things like "% of users who buy the V8" or "prices in a given region" (that's how they get the TMV prices) but it's not useful for determining total number of vehicles sold.
