  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I knew I had chosen well. Please read this

Fiat is not a surprise, but considering the cost of Jaguar, you'd expect more.

I am missing something here

They mention no where the United States sales volumes of the cars?

Would that not be the biggest indicator of what people were looking for?...

I don’t think so. Why would I want to buy a very popular car that owners thought performed poorly or their post buying experience was poor. I don’t think sales volume is a good indicator of quality. Conversely if this were true a low volume car like a RR would mean it was poor quality. Lots of other parameters come into play and a more direct method is to just ask a statistically significant number of owners

I think Consumer Reports editorial staff used their own criteria. The German brands have more "prestige," but are not as reliable (a big issue for Consumer Reports). Many buyers of German luxury cars don't care that much about reliability, since the only keep the car while under warranty. Consumer Reports doesn't look at it that way, and they don't care about prestige.

German makes HEAVILY subsidize their leases. Hence, their numbers.

I don't understand the discussion about sales volumes. Consumer Reports did not use that as a criteria in making their selection. The whole philosophy of Consumer Reports is contrary to popularity, prestige, or any other consideration besides the product itself.

Yes, it is complaints per thousand vehicles that they use. Fiat has been dead last in other surveys, yet they still sell cars because many people think it is cute. Same with other brands. Ram trucks is low, but for many, my father had one, my grandfather had one, etc. They never looked at anything else.

Actually it’s much more than just complaints to quote CR:
Brands are ranked based on the average Overall Score for all of their current tested models. The Overall Score is a composite of the road-test score and the predicted reliability and owner satisfaction ratings from our Annual Auto Survey.
Safety features, such as standard forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, are also factored into the score. As has been mentioned several times, popularity or sales volume does not and should not figure in.

Now if Genesis could only match the quality of their service with the quality of their car. I have an Audi also and lets just say the difference in service is like coming from the Hilton and going to a motel 6. It's going to take more then a great car to make Genesis a great brand. Time will tell.

Hopefully the separate dealerships do just that. Should also be a sign for HMC to contribute more into service experience with Hyundai and Kia

But you have a Hyundai that you bought from a Hyundai dealer for a Hyundai price and had it serviced at Hyundai service. The xperience is never going to compare with Audi, but your next Genesis will.

now if the dealers only lived up to their end.

Nice smack-down of those low-lifes who only own a 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis, as opposed to the virtually identical 2017 Genesis G80. How dare those people think they own a Genesis Motors vehicle !!!

You say virtually identical, was the pricing also identical? Just waiting for your response to that. Didn’t take long, you are so predictable and so insecure that you get threatened easily. Now nobody owns a Hyundai, everyone owns a Genesis but want to pay Hyundai prices and get Genesis sales and service. OK by me. See how that works out. Why don’t you just speak for yourself.

Prices differences between a comparably equipped 2016 Hyundai Genesis and a 2017 Genesis G80 were very small, except that the Base Trim G80 includes all the safety features, so they had to bump up the list price about $3K (Base Only). That was a wise choice by Hyundai Motor America (and Genesis Motors USA) since that probably was the deciding factor in the CR award (no other brands that I know have all those safety features on every single model and trim level).

I am not threatened at all, since I am at bottom of the food chain, far below the 2G 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis (not to mention the G80), and begging for respect with my lowly 2009 Genesis Sedan (with 62K miles).

No need to beg. I do respect you and your automotive technical knowledge.

There is no reason Genesis cannot equal any Mercedes or Audi dealership, all it takes is money and commitment. I agree the price was great. I purchased it for a little more then half what it cost new and when I trade it in I will take a beating where as the Audi cost more and the trade in value is far more then the Genesis, so I guess in the end it all equals out.
