  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I want a White Satin R-Spec. Is that too much to ask?!

I can think for the life of me why they excluded White Satin as one of the exterior colors for R-Spec. Also, my wife and I hate black interior. So it seems we are going to go with 4.6. It sucks.

You can get a white r spec in Canada.

The New York Times had one for their review. And the one they reviewed didn't have the butt-ugly wheels.

Not exactly. If you go to the NYT link, they have issued the following correction and posted a corrected photo:

Correction: September 20, 2011

A picture with an earlier version of this review was published in error. The photograph, supplied by Hyundai, showed the 2012 Genesis 4.6, not the Genesis 5.0 R-Spec.

Yep, they definitely changed it from yesterday.

A nice color would be the colbalt blue that KIA has used on its new sedan- it really pops.
Not for everyone, but neither is black on black.
Wheels gotta go.

Ha! I wrote to their corrections department to point out the error. I noted that much of the review was talking about the differences of the R-Spec from the standard model and the featured photo didn't show the smoked headlamps or the 19" wheels so it was worthy of a correction.

Oddly, the inset photo was of a grey R-Spec's trunk badge. So they definitely had the full set of stock photos from Hyundai PR. They just chose the wrong one to use as the primary photo.

Those wheels do polarize folks. For me, they were one of the things I really liked about the R-Spec. The stock 18" wheels are too generic. I feel like I've seen them on a hundred previous cars. It would be nice for Hyundai to offer more wheel choices.

Repaint? Naaaahhhh.....just SKIN or wrap the car...skin it any way you want. That way, you can remove the SKIN and have a perfect paint job beneath it when you sell/trade it...

Also, do you have to have the R-spec? We waited over a month to get our 3.6L V6 with prem/tech pkgs and we love it (cashmere interior, with black floor carpeting)....this V6 moves us right along...well, I guess if you want bragging rights... LoL... Good Luck!

Everytime I get stopped and asked about the car the wheels are a topic of discussion. Alot of people like them including me.

The price difference is prohibative. Cheaper to paint a US model white.

what did Henry Ford say?............

You can have any color car you want - as long as it's black

ok - I'm sure i butchered that non quote.....

but hyundai probably restricted the colors for cost purposes as well as a way to lightly define the R Spec's already blurry differences

having unique colors - only available to the R Spec would be cool

silverstone or white pearl -

instead of black - gray and silver

personally - i chose black cause the wheels really stand out

plus it's a great tone - it jumps out at you - and grabs your attention

especially with the silver Genesis wing on the back

As mentioned by others, the Canadian R-Spec comes a white, blue, as well as the US colors. It is pretty much up to the Importer/Distributor to decide what to order from Hyundai Motors in Korea. They don't usually change colors mid-year, but if you complain to HMA, there is always hope for next model year.
