  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I found this information in the DIS Navigation System / Owners Manual and thought I should pass it along to insure no one installs any other SD card in their new 2015 Genesis except for the one that came with the purchase of the car. This could negate the warranty.

On page 16 it states:

Usage of SD Cards:
  • The SD Card is formatted to include only Map, Navi application and Navi S/W with a new version.
  • The SD Card cannot be used to save and play Music
  • Do not add, delete, or format files within the SD Card.

On page 95 "About Map Updates":

You can contact your HYUNDAI dealer or Call Hyundai MnSOFT at 888-757-0010.

Information
  • This product requires regular updates for new functions and map updates. Updating may require up to 1 hour depending on the data size.
  • Turning off the power or ejecting the SD card during the update process may result in damage to the system. Make sure to keep the ignition on and wait until updating is complete.

Caution
  • Please use only the SD card that was included with the vehicle purchase.
  • The use of an uncertified SD card may result in damage to the system due to heat related deformation.
  • Product malfunctions caused be the use of an uncertified cards shall not be covered within the product warranty.
  • Repeatedly connecting/disconnecting the SD card in a short period of time may cause damage to the device.

Hope this helps out.

Hello,

Thanks for the information! I am new to the forum so I have a question on the SD card itself. Ours is the 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate Package. I bought at auction and there was no SD card in it. I am receiving the SD Card not installed message. I have narrowed down the part number (B1570) by using a Hyundai dealer's parts catalog. My question is whether an SD from another Genesis will work in ours (assuming the part numbers are the same)? There are some available for sale so I'd prefer to go the least expensive route. I read in one thread that they are "plug and play" so hopefully there is no extra installation steps in installing the SD card. Thanks so much for any information that anyone can provide.

The latest map update can be had here, it includes both an update and an SD card for the "jog dial" map hardware. Look up your car and check the link to the instructions to see the details.

No. The SD card is keyed to the VIN number of your car.

I got a leftover '15 that was missing the SD card & the dealer tried several other SD cards from other Genesises on the lot and they didn't work.

You have to call Hyundai MNSoft at 888-757-0010 w/ your VIN #.

You can buy SD cards on Amazon or eBay, but they won't work unless they're
paired w/ your VIN. Ask MNSoft if it's possible to do that.

Well, it worked for me! Matched the part number up and bought one that was OEM at a much lower price! Received it today, Installed prior to starting the vehicle up, the GENESIS greeting stayed on the LED for several seconds and then the Navigation worked I had talked with the Genesis Dept.(when call Hyundai usa) and felt that would be the case (so long as I had the correct SD card/part number). To be honest, I think they're most interested in selling the updates! I haven't taken the card out to install an update because of the price but just wanted it for the function, to get the navigation started. It definitely works as I've tested several addresses this evening! Thanks to all who gave help and advise.

Also, I notice they will sell you a new card (as MIKEYTG indicates above) with the navigation update for $50 (instead of the download) but of course, would require the purchase of the update itself. Like others have discussed on other posts, use of smart phone seems more practical as far as keeping the most current map information even though it requires use of phone data. Even the update indicates (prior to purchase) that the mapping information may not be the most current!

Another important thing I noticed when I recently updated to V10 from MapNSoft is that the Map Update in our 2G is NOT VIN matched as it used to be on the 1G.
