If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Re: In car accident logger

Seems every day, there's a new "Russian dashboard cam video" out there on Youtube. The concept actually peeked my interest, and I think it's a great idea.

I've been looking at the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Itronics-ITB-70G-Camera-Recorder-Record/dp/B004ASMDA8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1329013326&sr=8-4"]Itronics ITB-70G[/ame], but I hear the same company is coming out with a 1080p model.

Does anyone have a dash camera (or windshield-mounted one)? If so, what did you buy, what is your setup, and how do you like it?

Thanks!

Here's video of the ITB-100HD in action. View it in 1080p... the quality looks astonishing to me...

Re: In car accident logger

I been looking into dash cam my self. Also b/c of accidents but mostly b/c of scams. Check out this video. I heard from my relatives in Korea that these scams are pretty common.

I've been using an 808 #16 for about 9 months. Not exactly a dash cam per se, but it works well enough.
It's 720P which is actually a lot better than the link you provided jrwolf!
No problems or issues with heat, video is good daytime, night time is not great but so are many dash cams, unless you want to spend ~200+
Super small size and no additional theft/break in risk as it goes unnoticed from outside.
Best bang for the buck (~$40), kinda why I bought the Genny in the first place lol.

Re: In car accident logger

That's funny... I posted that in February, and since then, I've been dead set on purchasing the BlackVue DR400G-HD. Until last week, when out of nowhere, I bought the ITB 100-HD I posted about almost a year ago.

LMAO

I should have it in the next week or two, and will post my thoughts about the install, operation and of course, sample videos.

:)

I have two cams, DOD F900LHD 1080p in front, and some cheap 720p in the back. Several times I had bozos catching me from behind and starting tailgating me. Then few moment later they were noticing my dash cam behind the rear windshield and they were puling back to safe distance. Here is how they are set up:

I didn't notice the date you originally posted when I replied.
Sorry if you feel miffed it was not my intention to offend a helpful contributor to this forum such as yourself.

Well... I installed my dash cam, finally.

Here are all the gory details: CLICK ME

Have had the top-of-the-line BlackVue since last summer, and it is terrific. Small, unobtrusive, easy to wire, and has great video (1080p) plus GPS. No complaints.

Replaced the 808 #16 with a Tiotech GT300W (OEM version of a DOD LS300W)
F1.6 Aperture, WDR, 6G glass lens, no GPS. Having some audio issues but most importantly the video is very good, night time as well.
Hard wired it using an add-a-circuit and tapped into the lighter socket fuse (on with ignition only)

Uhh, pardon my ignorance, but living in So. Cal. myself, is this really an issue? I have never seen the need for this. This isn't Russia where you're pretty much left on your own to "prove" anything. I head off scams with my Glock 20. There will always be that one occasion where it was "worth it", but who here has been without a single witness when it was needed?

Like your thinking about a Glock 20, it's just another layer of security nothing more, nothing less.
Like it or not, you're on video more than you think. Everyday, every month, every year it increases. Far from Russia for sure, for now. :)

I bought a 32 gb memory chip for my Samsung Galaxy SIII and have been using it as a dash cam from time to time. Works great.

I LOVE the idea of a rear windshield mounted camera for recording.....

My Chinese friend sent me a car camera last Christmas from this company:
