  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So there I was this morning (25 March) backing out of the garage when I noticed that the screen was totally dark except for the backup camera guide lines that overlay the camera image. But no image, just blackness and the guide lines. (see attached photo taken while in Park) Then it occurred to me that upon start I didn't get the "our PITA lawyers wrote this to cover our butts" disclaimer or our user profile icons. So I put the car in park and noticed that none of the buttons were causing anything to display (e.g., map, nav, radio, media.), nor was my iphone audio stream playing as it should have been. Restarting the car had no effect. But after about 1-2 minutes of idling after the restart the system came to life and presented me with the usual lawyer crap. After that everything worked normally.

Has anyone else seen this? I wonder if Genesis pushed out a software update last night?

Frank

You can reset the system by holding in the map and setup buttons on the dash for over 5 seconds. It doesn't wipe any data, just reboots the system.

Thanks. I'll try that the next time it happens. And I'll also squawk it to the dealer.

My Honda Pilot did this about once a month. Restarting the vehicle was the only thing that would fix it.

Happened to me also. Turned it off for 15 minutes, restarted, and it was good to go.

Hmmmm. I'm going to let my dealership know about this. It's only happened once and not at all to our G80, but Genesis should be made aware.
