Hello all. My Sergio and I am new to this forum. I just recently acquired a 2011 Interlagos Yellow 3.8 GT 6sp and is very impressed with the power, handling and performance from this car. I love tinkering with new things and this car is no exception. My previous toys included a 95 mits. eclipse turbo, 88 and 89 Chrysler conquest TSI and a 2004 RX8 GT.
Looking at other forums and post, I noticed the issues with oil catch cans for these vehicles. Many believe that they are not useful, but seeing first hand how clean a catch can will leave your intake manifold, I think there is always a need for a can in any car. So this is my first post and contribution to the Genesis community. Did some research a found that there is very limited space for a catch can in these cars especially the V6, the 2.0T is a different story. But still would need the space and the time to install in a 2.0T. I found this item online at Brothers Performance in Florida.
Its an inline catch can or PCV inline units. So for less than $100 bucks and no need to remove the bumper or manufacture brackets or need to find space.
So this what is needed:
2 inline PCV
zip ties
pliers
hose clamps
Brass adapters (lowes)
extra oil line or tubing
about 1 1/2 hour of time
First, put inline unit together and determine the size adapter you will need for the line going to the intake. You can use the extra piece from the intake hose that you will cut for both units. Like so-
Next use zip ties and clamps to install the 1st unit, be sure that it clear, and does not rub against the injector clip. Like so-
Next, will be the other side. This side was a little trickier. Remove the hose from the intake manifold and valve cover.
This hose does not need to be cut. Next put the second unit together and use the splicer to complete the install. Like so
.
The Part number for the inline is JLT-PCVPF-B. The part is for a 96-04 cobra, MACH 1 and lighting, but can be used for other applications. They are very easily serviced and cleaned. They are also aluminum, so they are built to last.
