  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How long does this take, I understand about 15 minutes to a half hour, unless an update is needed??

Thanks in advance

It only took about 15 min. to swap the unit out in my 2009 w/Tech.
Don't expect all your settings to be there in the replacement unit.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Thanks for info, not sure which unit, probably get one from another suppplier with more features and cheaper updates After reading nightmare stories here about issues and updates, seems to be the smart thing to do

Re: Install new GPS/Radio "HELP"!!!!!

My dealer informs me that the unit he wants to install to replace my original unit is not from Hyundai but from a radio repair source, is this normal to replace a defective unit which lasted less than 30 days?

the service manager says the GPS is from a radio supplier, not Hyundai then says they must follow strict Hyundai replacement policies, he also says he needs 2 3 hours to update maps in the unit they want to install, makes no sense to me

Car dvd player installation is a Professional work,Install an indash car dvd player is not simple and easy,we recommemd all of the customer take the car dvd player to install by a Professional Technician who has experience in this work,or sometimes there will be problem in installation. Here is the simple instruction for car dvd player installation:

Installing a permanent DVD player takes a few hours, and you will have to use some basic tools. Start by removing your existing car stereo, including the dash fascia and trim.

Detach the existing car stereo unit from its mounting brackets and wiring harness.

Consult your DVD player's owner's manual to see if the new DVD player head unit requires different mounting brackets than the ones that fit your old stereo. If you have to mount new brackets, remove the old ones first and set them aside.

If you wish to install a DVD changer in the trunk or under a seat, you will have to run the power and auxiliary audio and video cables to your stereo head unit before mounting the new head unit and finishing installation.

After reattaching the wiring harness, secure the DVD player to the mounting brackets in the dash. Make sure the DVD player works before reattaching the dashboard trim and fascia.

Finally, please take the car dvd player to install by a Professional Technician, espcially for the model which has can bus,and it is very important if you want to install a backup camera ,please ready the instruction for installation of the rear camera carefully before connecting the wires. :)

Some people may not have noticed that you have a Genesis Coupe (not sedan). Your audio/GPS system is completely different than the Sedan. If you have been reading about the Sedan DVD/audio systems, you should disregard any information you have seen.

Regarding how long it takes, shops have standardized service times for each repair or service activity, and they will quote (and charge you for if not under warranty) for the standardized time, regardless of how long it actually takes.
