  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I took the Genny to the local tint shop and had them install Solarguard Clearshield plastic on the front bumper, hood, fenders, mirror and Rockers. The car looks great and the plastic should protect the front as long as I own the car. The cost was $850 and as expensive as it was I will see how it holds up over the coming years.

Are the Love Bugs as bad in the Tampa area as they are in the Mt. Dora/Eustis/Tavares area right now? Your Clearshield will protect the paint from them, but no way would I pay that kind of money for it. I just install a Love Bug Screen across the front of the car.

The Love bugs are not too bad here. Nothing like 2007 was. Love Bugs so thick they would swarm. I just pull the car into the driveway and do a quick wash of the front end each night. 11:00-12:00pm is the worst time for Love Bugs. Further away from Downtown Tampa the bugs get thicker. The price is high but I wanted to try out the ClearShield as I have had Wolf Bra's before on other cars. The Clearshield alone will run you $300-$400 for what I got. The shop said it took them 7 hours to install the shield. Planning on keeping the car for 10 years. I would post a picture but you really can't see the film unless you look for it. If you get it done I would recommend finding a shop that cut's it's own kits. If they mess a piece up they can recut another.

Well if your car spends a lot of time in the garage it will hold up well. On the other hand if it sits outside in the sun day after day it will look like crap in a couple years. I have it on my wife's 2005 G35 and it looks like new after 5 years. Cousin's car same year looked like crap in two.

Garaged at home and work :) Should last as long as I own the car (10 years). FL sun is brutal on any paint

I did the same thing, within a week of buying my car. I live in Orlando and have a business in Melbourne, so it's 114 miles each day of lovebug, rocks, etc beating on the front of my car. This was a must have for me, as my previous car (Mercedes that I still own) is pretty much perfect every where except the front end due to bugs, rocks, debris, etc)

Here's a pic of the guy installing mine. Ironically, there's a small area just under the fog light that doesn't get covered and that's the only place I have a small spot of chipped paint from a rock. I'm very happy I spent the $600.00 having this thing installed. Especially with these pesky love bugs with guts of the same acid as that alien from the movie Alien.
