  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have owned a 2011 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 for 9 months and have encountered a warning on the instrument cluster that I cannot find in the Owner's Manual. It shows a car facing to the right, followed by two dots and then a hook facing upward. Finally, at the far right is a gas pump. The car is full of gas. My sales rep doesn't know what this is and I'm trying to avoid a 60-mile trip to the dealership. Does anyone know what this warning means?

Thanks.

can you take a picture? maybe it could be some sort of parking sensor or other sensor?

Buy gas right now dumbass, or get towed.

I am assuming it was a tongue in cheek post.

Message to Schuler: I said clearly in my post that the car had a full tank of gas. So that's not the problem, dumbass.

No need to get testy and I did not call you a dumbass.

God, there are sooooooooooo many fragile egos who own computers.

Scientific American (a magazine) recently had a blurb about hidden codes planted by bored/frustrated coders. Could be that?

Geesh ... lighten up!

cshuler...perhaps american English is not your first language, but where I am from there is no other way to interpret this except that you clearly called him a dumbass....

Look up "tongue in cheek"

To the OP:

I went out an looked on mine...the symbol you describe is likely not a warning, but a pictorial representation that appears along with the distance to empty display. There is a similar display for elapsed time with a small clock...

It appears that rwlewis has nailed it. Although the dealership did not recognize the symbol when I described it to them. it probably is just the image that appears above the "Miles to Empty" indicator. I've had trouble with low air in one tire and I was afraid the symbol was telling me the tire had been punctured.

Thanks for all the help. I will not have to drive 60 miles to get an answer.

FWIW, I think that cschuler was joking that the indicator was conveying that message that to any driver, not to the OP. But I can see where it could have been taken another way.

Actually guys, I did not read that as an insult. I think he was saying the "out of gas light" could be renamed to "Buy gas right now MORON (who let his car run out of gas), or get towed". Although I don't really approve with the language. I think the OP's questions was answered. Any more bantering and I'll lock the thread.
