  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am a dealer employee hoping to find some information regarding intermittant wiper operation on the Genesis Sedan. At the time of failure the RKE was also inoperative and the vehicle did not recognize the key.
It's been days of many attempts to reproduce failure and very little information offered from HMA. I'm hoping someone has come accross this concern.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The wipers have two control modules:
1: the "Front Area Module" (aka "FAM" in the service manuals) which is the large component inside one of the black plastic boxes under the hood; if I remember correctly it's the one closest to the firewall on the passenger side.

2: the "Electronically Controlled Wiper" module ("ECW" ) that takes FAM signals and converts them to high-current signals to drive the wiper motor.

Neither have anything to do with the keyless entry... other than potentially polluting the car's network (the CANbus) such that the many modules involved with the keyless entry can't talk to each other. The Body Control Module (BCM) does get involved with both systems.

A more likely scenario is crappy connections in the fuse panels on either end of the dashboard. Several folks on this site have noted loose/sloppy connections on one of the main fusible links in one of these panels; when loose a whole slew of things in the car were totally dead. Just tapping that link "fixed" stuff.

Thanks Mike, very useful information! Found a poor connection at FAM. Your advise is very much appreciated!

Laura, could you check with whomever is the appropriate person at your dealership and find out if you can tell us which dealership you work for? I'd really like to write a letter of commendation to HMA explaining how your dealership has the type of stellar service they need to have other dealerships try to emulate.

Hello Capo, sincere thanks for recognizing my concern for owner satisfaction! I served 28 years in the dealership and came on board as the Customer Care Coordinator with Burns Hyundai in Marlton, NJ. A decision based on the dealer philosophy of serving our community with exceptional service as well as a warm family feeling atmosphere. We do have a georgeous facility, a dedicated Genesis lounge, coffee, pastries, free Genesis loaners, wash vac and fuel with each visit without compromising the service visit you should expect. I joined this forum to gain information to allow us to continually understand the wants and needs of all of our very valuable customers. I appreciate all feedback, positive and negative equally. Please feel free to toss anything my way here or at lsharp@burnshyundai.com

Hey Mike, FYI after securing all connections at FAM and checking body grounds I left my Genesis Sedan "intermittant wiper operation" running with wipers sweeping on low speed. Ironically they decided to switch from low speed to intermittant, when I selected high speed it was the same as low (this time without RKE concern). Wiper motor coming Thursday, update to follow.
