  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all, I just registered, having bought a Genesis GV60 in January. By way of introduction, I'm an EV veteran and this is my 7th EV. I do a lot of EV outreach so suddenly the Genesis GV60 is getting a lot more attention in metro Atlanta :)

Thanks to this forum in general for answering a lot of my obscure questions (via google) when I was researching this car last December. So now it's finally time for me to register and start participating.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us. 7th EV?! Already! What others have you had? That's pretty impressive... Since you're so experienced with them - how does the GV60 compare to the rest?

Thanks for the welcome. My first post here yesterday was in a GV60 software thread, where someone inquired about what trim and why I picked the GV60, and I'll copy-paste here what I wrote there:

I got an Advanced. For the first time in my EV career, I did NOT get the most powerful trim package offered :)

I have a very long list of EV features that I evaluate against, with about a dozen items at the top as dealbreakers. The Korean models check nearly all the boxes, including their 800V-enabled fast DCFC and strong but adjustable regen.

But the clincher for me was when I discovered* that the Genesis models had a hand controller for interacting with the screen. In the age of touchscreens (which are terrible UIs for drivers in a moving car), that hand controller is a true differentiator. BMW invented it 20 years ago with iDrive, but only a few carmakers have since gotten on board with the concept. Mostly it's luxury lines but my previous car, an Audi etron, did not have it and leaning forward towards (and focusing my eyeballs on) that damn touchscreen drove me nuts for three years. (*it's not highlighted in their marketing materials, and obviously should be; I found it while exploring the cockpit, and the salesman shrugged)

Now obviously that isn't an EV feature, but again I should say that that I was only considering the GV60 because it already checked the most important EV boxes.

Also, I love having a HUD, first time for me. Fifteen years ago, I was agog over adaptive cruise control. Today, it's the HUD.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Oh, previous EV rundown:
- Dec 2010: Chevy Volt (one of first 300 shipped just before Chistmas, oh the drama)
- Feb 2014: Ford Focus EV (used, not for long though ...)
- Oct 2014: BMW i3 BEV (BEV = pure electric)
- 2017: BMW i3 REx (REx = gas gen option, weird but works)
- 2019: BMW i3 REx (last two were "lease takeovers")
- 2021: Audi e-tron (first long-range and fast-charging EV, now called Q8 etron)
- 2024: Genesis GV60 (longer and faster)

Welcome to the land of Genesis where your dreams may come true or be destroyed like Tokyo was by King Kong!

Just kidding welcome aboard the Genesis train!
