  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have read many old threads about problems owners were having with iPods only producing output on the right side speakers instead of the full set. I am having this problem on my brand new 2012 Genesis 3.8 with both packages. Tried a new cord from Hyundai and one after market cord. Same results. Even tried someone else's iTouch versus my iPhone and same results.

Did anyone who had this problem get it resolved and how? I absolutely love this car, but this part of it is irritating. Especially since my traded in Camry LE did it through cord or Bluetooth streaming effortlessly. Thanks!

(Also had to inform my newbie salesman that the iPhone could not stream through Bluetooth if the Genesis came with a tech package. He mentioned that it could during his sales pitch. Thought I remembered you couldn't and it wasn't that big of a deal to me. Now with the cord integration problem, it is a big deal. He called yesterday under the guise of seeing how the car was one week later (realy checking to see if I had done the survey) and I mentioned to him that I was still having the iPhone problem. Mentioned streaming capability again. This time I did correct him.

Folks, IMHO, this is EXACTLY what Hyundai is going to have to overcome to move into the luxury market effectively and market with the big boys. Salesmen need to know these cars inside out and if I go in two days later to get a new cord, I should not have to make an appt (as service told me I did) to let the problem be evaluated for an hour just to get the replacement. I left fuming. Called the sales manager and turned around and went back to get the new cord from him. Shame it did not work.

I agree that the salesmen, along with the service advisers and techs need to know their cars better. I've been in to the service department a few times, and I feel like I know more than they do about the car.

As for the cable, you have to use the Hyundai one in order to get sound. My guess is that they'll end up replacing the head unit if they can't fix it. I'm waiting on parts from Hyundai to have my 2nd head unit replaced.

First one rebooted at random, and this one doesn't show me the nav/audio info in the center display.

I can hear sound on the left side (driver's) side great. If you move the sliders to the right though, no sound. Sound through all speakers on CDs and Radios. Taking to service on Tuesday.

Took my car in this morning. Hyundai dealership here has no clue as to the problem. Thankfully it didn't magically start working when they tested it (how many of us have had that happen with any car when you take it in for service). They are keeping it for at least two days maybe long (love the Corolla rental!). Taking apart the radio and then going to put one in from another car to try to determine the problem.

So many others wrote about this problem on this forum - is there not anyone out there that had it resolved and can tell me how it was?

My car had the missing right channel (front and rear) when I played MP3s through the Aux port. It was the only input that had the problem, or so I thought. I took it to the dealership and they couldn't replicate it until they plugged in an iPod through a cable (I didn't have one). I told them that the same thing happened with the AUX and they FINALLY got it to fail ...somehow. It's totally random.

They replaced something, the AUX connector or something, and said it was fixed. I got into the car and on the way home I switched it to AUX and the right channel dropped. Sometimes there's a static on the right channel.

I am convinced that this is something in the digital-to-analog processing as there is no left/right channel on the AUX input - it's a file that's read and then processed to the channels. This may be true for the iPod as well but I have no idea.

My wife has been driving the car for over a week so I'm not sure if the AUX has been acting up or not.

It's NOT fixed however.

New Genesis? If so, keep on them to fix it. I sure will on mine. My Camry that was half the price integrated it perfectly with just a USB port in a car that is half the price!

Thanks for responding!

It's the cable connection at the ipod.

Sorry, but no that is not the problem. iPod is fine in other cars and sound out perfectly. Also happens when other iPods are tested in the car. Other cords have also been used. Its the car.

I think he means it's the part they changed in my car ... the AUX harness or something to that effect.

That didn't fix it for me though ...

It was fixed. It was the USB/Aux connector itself. They found this only after Hyundai had them switch out the radio with another, the cord with another and finally the connector.

I gave up a year ago with the ipod, nav, radio & I don't think any dealer can fix it. The car is great for the money and pretty much all important things work well but as far as the electronics goes it's crap and works sometimes but most of the time it's broken. IPOD JUST A HORROR STORY !!! I'm glad I did not spend the time at dealer getting the run a round ...I check this site to see if anybody found a fix to the radio issue but there never is ... it's sad because my lease is up in sept and I won't get another genesis .... also the only other thing is that my seats have not worn well at all they look 10 yrs old and the car has 17,000 miles on it. I did it all head unit, amp, upgrade, cord, iphone ,new ipod with less songs etc.... NOTHING WORKED FOR ME ! still broken and when I return it I'm sure it will still be broken..good luck guys
