  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

when I plug my ipod into the console port, the radio doesn't acknowledge the ipod, only cd...the same occurs if I try and use the ipod thru the xm setting. What am doing wrong?

Are you using the factory Hyundai cable? It has a apple dock connector on one end and a combo usb/headphone connector on the other end.

You need the Hyundai cable AND if you are using a 7th generation ipod it would be best if you only use the Apple lightning converter ($29). Other posts about this have several people say that the much cheaper knock off converters don't work.

I have a new 7th gen nano with a Hyundai cable and Apple Lightining converter and it works fine. I previously had a 4th and 5th gen ipod nano with only the Hyundai cable and they both worked fine.

"Worked fine" means that it plays music. The interface on the Genesis tech package is awful. No search function so you have to do a lot of scrolling.

I have a 2013 Gennie with Tech package. I have a Nano 6th Generation and use IPOD cord and it plays one song and then stops. Anyone know if Hyundai cord would work better??? You would certainly think a $44K car would you that it would be compatible.

Update,

My IPOD still doesn't work with the Hyundai cord, but I tried the cord that I connect to my computer to DL and charge and it works perfectly. So I have gone that way and put my other cord away.

Ordered new cord (the one that works for computer charging etc) on ebay for 0.99 delivered. Received it today and it works perfect. Why the one that Hyundai sells for doesn't I don't know.

I believe the hyundai cable is piping the audio over the analog 1/8" instead of the usb connection. Using a traditional ipod cable exposes the media directly instead.
