  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings, I've done a couple of topic searches and read everything I got hits on regarding "no" or "intermittent" sound as well as problems with Ipods, but I didn't come across my problem.

I have the 4.8 Sedan with tech package. Just picked it up a couple of days ago.

For the first time tonight I tried using my iTouch. Using the Hyundai cable, the iTouch will charge its battery and the interface reads the content of the iTouch and displays it on the nav screen just fine. I can scroll through the iTouch content; artist, song, album, etc. When I hit "play" it shows that a song is playing; it displays the name of the song, the timer advances, etc. However all I get is occasional faint static through the speakers.

I tried reseating both ends of the cable multiple times with the iTouch on and off. the iTouch is a 1st generation.

I haven't tried a flash drive, I'll try that tomorrow. I'm going to try my kids' iPods too.

I've had no other problems with the interface. Radio, CD, DVD all play fine. Nav, phone, all buttons and voice prompts work fine.

Any ideas?

Best, Mongo

iPod works great, but not sure if iTouch is supported. You have either the 3.8 or 4.6, not 4.8 Engine.

The 4.8 was a typo, should have been 4.6, that's what I get for posting at that hour of the night.

Well, might have been a glitch in the system. Went out and fired up the iTouch again, this time it worked just fine.

I did read up on the cable spec sheet. The sheet said that it is iTouch compatible.

I've also read a couple other posts about some ipods turning off automatically when the car was turned off, or the ipod continuing to run to battery depletion when the car was turned off. The cable sheet said this is pretty much "hit or miss", it depends on which ipod is being coupled to which Genesis.

Edit to add: I left my iTouch in the car last night and then turned the car off. Went out this morning to find the ipod was off and it still had a fully charged battery. So it looks like I can leave it in the center console as needed. 1st generation iTouch with 4.6 tech package Genesis.

i've had some random issues in my coupe too. sometimes the volume is VERY soft (crank to vol 45 and can barely hear it) usually, i just have to re-seat the ipod into the cable and it works fine.

The only problem I have with my ipod is once I start my car and the ipod connects in about 1 minuet the sound system automatically switches to the ipod (and plays my favorite movie "gone in 60 seconds", this is really weird because I can not access movies through the interface)
