  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

With my new V6 Premium (touch NAV) arriving next week, I'm heading out to buy a new 32Gig IPOD touch as a bonus/celebration.

I notice that the new IPODs have voice control (on the 32G and 64G models)

Anybody know if the 'voice control' from the IPOD can somehow work with the Genesis systen? That would be cool!

See the following blurb from Apple re voice control for IPOD....

From the Apple Site:
Voice Control on the new 32GB and 64GB iPod touch gives you the ability to control music playback with spoken commands. You say it. iPod touch plays it. And shuffles it, pauses it, or names it. Voice Control knows the music in your iPod touch. Want to hear something specific? All you have to do is ask. For instance, say “Play artist Bob Dylan,” and iPod touch does just that. Ask what song is playing and hear iPod touch answer. Tell it to play your favorite album, artist, or playlist. Speak simple commands such as “shuffle,” “next song,” and “pause.” Even have iPod touch play more songs like the one you’re listening to.

Not sure about the iPod voice control, but make sure the dealer includes the iPod interface cable in the car. It came included with my Genesis, but I have heard others did not receive it at delivery.

I don't think the voice control will work with the car. It is because once you connect the iPod (any model of iPod, including iPod Touch) using the Hyundai iPod cable, all control functions on the iPod are lost. You can only control the iPod via the Lexicon unit.

Also, iPod Touch does not have a mic on the unit. The mic is part of the earphones. You cannot connect the iPod cable and the earphones cable at the same time.

If you are very picky about sound quality, I would suggest you getting a regular iPod or iPod nano rather an iPod Touch. When I connect my iPod Touch to my car, I can hear a lot of noise when I turn up the volume, but my Nano does not have this problem.

Or just get a cheap memory stick.... those work pissa. Or a 500gig hard drive... that works pissa too.

The cable doesn't come with the car...it's an accessory, like wheel locks and the trunk liner; I think they get about $30 for it.

The Ipod cable was included when I bought my Genesis. Could be a Canadian thing though. By the way my Ipod Touch 2nd Gen works just fine. I understand that Toyota considers the cable a $300 accessory!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Yep, us Canajuns get freebie iPod Cable and Wheel locks - are you listening Flyboy? ;)

Still doesn't justify the huge $ premium we pay over US consumers, (especially now our dollar is about on par with the US greenback), but it's a start. :)

Actually, I guess I have to eat my words :o
I just checked the Hyundai Canadian & US websites and for a 2010 Genesis with Tech package the Canadian cash price is $41,255 and the US price is $41,800. And the Canadian price includes the aforementioned iPod cable, wheel locks AND 18" wheels, which appear to be a $1000 adder in the US.

Hey Flyboy, are you sure we should be shopping south of the border??:D

really? I just looked at the Canadian Site, and it said $49,999 for a 2010 4.6 tech, and comparing, there was a good $5,000-$7,000 difference...

BACK ON THE VOICE CONTROL SUBJECT
You can use the ITouch voice control by using only the audio earphone output from the ITouch and plugging in a Audio Mini cable to the Audio AV jack on the Genesis. That way you get the sound into the Geneis and the control left on the ITouch. Route the Audio cable from under the center arm rest cover and set the ITouch in a cup holder.
