  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've done some limited experimenting with a 1TB hard drive loaded with almost 10k songs, hooked up to the Genesis DIS via USB, and would say my experiences were similar to yours.

The seek/load wait time upon initial boot and between songs was noticeably longer with these high track volumes when compared to an 8GB containing ~1000 songs. This makes logical sense.

In my experience, the lag was normally just slightly annoying and not something I couldn't have become accustomed to over time. There were a couple of instances when it "locked up" or similar, which I blame on a combination of over-extended processor and sluggish software.

I now use a combination of 8GB and 16GB flash drives all the time, with their specific genres, instead of my full catalog on the 1TB drive. They rarely give me severe problems. [The main reason being that I've found the shuffle feature to work less and less well (ie. less random) the more tracks it has to choose from.]

I doubt your head unit is the problem. If you're worried, though, take it in.
