  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know the engine is rev limited, but is the car speed limited. My Dad's Cadillac, (DTS, Northstar V8, extra horsepower) is speed limited, around 130mph. Is the Genesis V8 constrained by speed? How fast will this car go? Anyone had the opportunity to push the limits? I've only got 800 some miles on mine yet, so I'm not ready to try it yet (much less figuring out where to try it). Took a road trip for lunch yesterday, 75mph, got 29.7 mpg according to the car computer, the car's too new to get that mileage. Got my insurance bill for the car today, $270 per year, full coverage through Travelers. Guess grey hair and age pays eventually, they don't know how I drive cars though. :D

Gee Dimitry, did you do it yourself? If you did I'm jealous:D

The speed limit is related to the tire selection for legal reasons 155 seems to be a popular limit, found on BMW, MB, etc...

If you don't mind me asking, your quote of $270 applies to what location and coverage?

$270 annual? where the heck do you live? All my grey hair got me was about $1200 (and a lot of folks calling me "sir").

Are you sure that was for the full year? Maybe 6 months? I didn't even know that very many insurance companies even write policies for a full year at a time.

The 155MPH is electronicaly limited. Closest I've gotten is 140; but there were cars up ahead, and wasn't going to get too close at those speeds.

Feeling a little sheepish folks, The $270 insurance is for six months, $540 for the year. My wife is laughing her butt off over my forum gaffe. I live in western Washington state, and the coverage is full coverage ($1000 deductable).

What are you calling "Full Coverage"? Liability (how high?), Comprehensive, Collision? Also, how many miles a year have you reported to them, that you drive a year? All these things have something to do with the amount you pay.

If I wanted Liability at the minimum requirment, it would cost me a lot less than what I pay now.

O.K. Bob here goes:

Bodily Injury, 250k each person, 500k each accident
Property Damage, 100k each accident
Underinsured motorist bodily injury, 250k each person, 500k each accident
Collision, actual cash value less 1k deductible
Comprehensive, actual cash value less $500 deductible
Safe driver discount
Multi-car discount
Own my own home discount

No mileage restrictions

Seems I'm getting a good deal compared to some of the posts on a later thread.

damn!!! wow, people actually test vehicles and pushes it to the limit?! big claps for you guys.. all i can say is, this car is already very powerful and fun to drive although ive seen complaints about the suspension, but hey, they call it a sports sedan and it equals for stiffer suspension ride.. and theyve probably made it like that for a reason or two.. but, im happy with mine!! hope all of you are too.!!

Hyundai changed the Genesis sedan suspension in 2010 and they claimed it was an improvement over the 2009. So I would assume that even Hyundai agrees that improvements to the 2009 suspension were needed, and your comment that they "probably made it like that for a reason or two" is probably not accurate. However, I will grant you that Hyundai did want the ride to be firm, and it is still that way in 2010, but with less bounciness on the rear end (which is what needed improvement).

Your coverage seems extremely minimal. My insurance runs $1000/year BUT, I have 2 million dollars liability ! $300 deductible, comprehensive $200 deductible. Safe driver etc...( I'm an old grey haired fart ! )

Been there....

Either 155 or 156 with a whole gear left to use...i think.

Handled gracefully and I felt in full control. However, I think I experienced a little brake fade as I was slowing down. Pedal got HARD and had some small vibrations.

Wont do it again though...Its not worth the risks. Lives or Jail...not worth it.
