  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is the BSD System connected with fuel pump control module in any way? Feeling the dealership might be trying to screw me over

Long story short, I got "check BSD system" warning light on and went to a local dealership to get it checked. Later the dealership sent me a quote, and the fix is about $500, there is also an additional service recommendation for fuel pump control module, and it's over $900.

I used to get "check PSB" warning and I know it might have something to do with fuel pump, but I haven't got this warning recently and the car drives just fine: (Got "check PSB" warning after auxiliary canister installation at dealership. Could that be related?)

So I called the service advisor on the phone and asked if I can only get the BSD fix, but they said no, telling me the BSD and fuel pump control module must be fixed together, but they will fix everything for $1000. Or if I don't get anything done they will charge me $200 for the inspection (this I was informed of at the beginning).

Does this make sense? Preferably I just want to have the BSD fixed, should I get a second opinion, or just let them fix everything?

Well, it is possible that they have misdiagnosed it, or are intentionally trying to defraud you. However, it is also possible/likely that both the fuel pump module and the BSD are on the same CAN bus and so one can cause problems for the other.

Thanks, this is fair. Maybe it feels off to me because they list fuel pump as an additional service but saying otherwise on the phone. Guess I will try call again to get someone else that better explain it.

Update:
They replaced the fuel pump control module for $1000, this is not for "check BSD system" warning but something else, probably the "check PSB" warning.
For BSD system they are saying I need to have both left and right BSD modules (95811-B1100) replaced, and the total is $6000 in addition.
So now I paid for the fuel pump module, got the car back, and still have the BSD warning.

It seems really unlikely that both the left and right modules would fail at the same time. I think they are being lazy about their diagnosis. Your car is about ten years old. It is probably time to find a good independent (not a chain store) mechanic shop instead of the dealer.

They're quoting you a repair bill of $6000 on a car that they'd take in on trade for maybe 8 or 9000? That's so cute! Please name the dealer. That's way better than my story of getting quoted $131 to replace 2 turn signal bulbs, or $72 to replace the cabin air filter, or $400 for a front brake job (without rotors).

Yeah, the parts sound overpriced, they are quoting $2700 each while MSRP is $2,483.81 and many sites are selling below that.
I think I will just live with the warning going forward.

I feel like I’m in the same situation for my 2015 3.8 Sedan.

BSD service light came on about a month ago and now my car has started to randomly die while driving, similar to those with fuel module issues on this thread. Wondering if they are connected in some way. Going to go with replacing fuel module first and see where that leads to. Obviously, a reliable running car is the first priority but I’d love to get BSD back and running.

Were you able to find a resolution for your situation?

I don't have problem with fuel pump anymore, but I did not get BSD fixed, not worth it imo.
