  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm looking at a new 2016 hyundai genesis 3.8 with ult package, price is $40,786 on their website. When I called the dealership about it they said it's hyundai employee pricing and they cant increase or decrease the number. Is that true? They are calling it "E" price.

The dealer can charge anything they want. There are "Hyundai Circle" prices (which includes employee prices and other preferential prices), but they are not bound to use that pricing system.

Thanks Mark, so they should be able to budge on the internet price is what you're saying? I don't know if I want to even continue talking to them if they just lied up-front.

They may have a dealer policy not to go below that price. Even though they can sell at any price they want, they can also not budge on that price if that is what they already decided.

Usually, the salesman you talk to is rarely the one who has final approval over the price. Often, a salesman is given the lowest price they can charge without approval, but to go lower it has to be approved by a sales manager, etc.

Since the 2017 G80 is now available, you may have the upper hand on a 2016 depending on how many 2016's they still have in stock.

I'll see if I can get them to budge, this is what the original email from them said

" The price is $40,786 - as I mentioned on the phone, Hyundai does not permit us to negotiate the "E" price. "

Thank you for the prompt reply Mark!

Yeah, but they don't have to use the "E" price.

IMO the dealership is strickly not lying. They can't change or negotiate the "E" price, but as Mark is saying they don't have to sell a car at that "E" price.
