  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Isn't this the current recall for the fuel pump thing?

First, I'm new to the forum, a new owner (I've always leased) so I appologize for not knowing where to put my questions.

I brought my 2020 G70 into the dealership for a recall that I didn't pay much attention to. I asked them to check out the fact that when I step on the gas, the car doesn't go. It's scary. The tech agreed there was a problem and will fix it for $1300. Thanks to this forum, I see there is a recall for what seemed to be exactly my problem. So are they ripping me off, or am I all wrong? Here is the estimate:

LACK OF POWER- REPLACE SPARK PLUGS, AND PERFORM FUEL INDUCTION/FUEL INJECTION SERVICES
LACK OF POWER- REPLACE SPARK PLUGS, AND PERFORM FUEL INDUCTION/FUEL INJECTION SERVICES TO CLEAN CARBON DEPOSITS

Here is the recall:

Hyundai’s latest recall is for more than 54,600 examples of its Elantra N, Kona N and Veloster N models, as well as G70 sedans from its luxury arm Genesis. The recall involves the vehicles’ fuel pump, which may fail and cause the vehicles to lose drive power.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2019-22 Veloster N hatchbacks, model-year 2019-23 G70 sedans, and model-year 2022-23 Elantra N sedans and Kona N SUVs. The fuel control valve in the high-pressure fuel pump of these vehicles may allow excess fuel to enter the pump due to wear of the fuel control valve plunger. The issue could eventually cause a loss or reduction of drive power at low spe
eds, increasing the risk of a crash.

Thank you for any help!

Susan

I have 2020 also. Never had that issue. I’d get a 2nd opinion from a reputable independent mechanic.

Your dealer is hosing you. Spark plugs and a fuel system clean, unless you have a very high mileage car isn’t going to be the root cause of your issue. Dealer is fishing and giving you a generic correction. If you do this, get the dealer to provide in writing this is the issue and if your car is not fixed you get a refund vs them fishing for more fixes. My G70 is a 2020 and has none of this. I installed an oil catch can when new so I know carbon deposits from being a GDI engine will be more minimum than most will have.

For the life of my car, I have had a fuel pump problem. Dealer claims due to my audio gear install. Nonsence.

According to the Magnuson Warranty Act, the burden of proof is on them.

Quick question. Why not verify if your vehicle is, or not covered under the recall? I'm not sure but you should be able to enter the VIN in several sites online including the Hyundais/Genesis sites for an answer. I also believe that if your engine is the 2.0 turbo, it'll be under the recall.
