Recently I bought an 2015 genesis 5.0 that just came off lease. It is at the dealership right now for a vibration that has been getting progressively worse. It vibrates from 40 - 65mph.
To deal with this, i had the car road force balanced. The machine said that my driverside rear wheel was out of round. The tire shop balanced as best they could. Then I took the wheel to a wheel repair shop and had it straightened. The vibrations were a little better. The vibration got worse again, this time I had the dealer road force balance, and the machine said both rear wheels were out of round, and all 4 tires are out of spec.
I have screen shots of the roadforce machine in action so i know the dealership isnt messing with me.
So i did some digging and found that many owners have been complaining of vibrations in one form or another on this car. Hyundai did a recall on the tires, which was already done to my car before I bought it. I also read that some suspect that the rear wheels, in particular, may not be strong enough to support the weight of the car.
I also found that Hyundai changed the rear wheel part number in 2014 for the 19" rears. Old rear wheel part number is 52910-B1350. This is now superseded by 52910-B1370. Was there a quiet update to how the rear are manufactured?
These are my rear wheel readouts.
