  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So this weekend I went to fill up the tires on our 2009 Genesis and the valve stem snapped off and all the air shot out. I put the donut tire on and took car to local tire shop. He replaced the TMPS/valve stem assembly and I watched him reset the sensors with his handheld gadget and all seemed fine. But after driving for about 5 minutes the TPMS light on dash came on. We called shop and she said come back in. So we did and they tweaked it again and sent us on our way. Same issue after 5-10 minutes of driving. We went back and he swapped out the assembly. No luck. Same issue.

So today my mom took car back in and she said 2 guys are looking it over and now say "oh it's normal, folks just drive with the light on" What?? No, it only started this when we switched out sensor.

So what the heck is going on? How can we fix this??

Thanks. At this point the part(s) have been paid for and we're sort of locked in.

Thing is they are 1/8 mile up road from a Hyundai shop so I told them to just run up and get one from them. Not sure they will go that route unless we force them to.

The dealer's price might be slightly different, don't be surprised if they charge ~80 dollars a piece or so, lol

Could it be possible that once the car is driven for "x" number of miles (or hours) the light will at some point shut off ? I know when I had my first car with TPMS it would get triggered by other cars that drove up next to me that had TPMS and their tires were low. After I drove for on and off for a day or so it would reset and light would go off.

Forgot to follow up.

Took car into Hyundai shop and they ended up replacing the TPMS unit and it worked fine all summer.

Fast forward to this past weekend (weather has cooled to 30's in morning) and I go to fill up moms car for her (gas) and I see the "low tire" warning for the tire she had fixed over the summer. Sure enough it was 15# low and I see that the valve stem is too short. So I rush it up to same Hyundai shop before they close and of course they say the sensor wasn't seated correctly so they fixed it no charge.

SO frustrated that I can't seem to trust ANY kind of service group these days to do a honest repair that actually works as advertised. I seem to have to babysit every company that does some kind of repair, be it car or home or electronics.
