If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Guys,

I am having issues connecting my Zune via USB. Anyone have a Zune and got it to work via USB (not AUX). If so, please let me know.

Thanks!

Regards,
Mrpolobrown :)

I don't have a Zune, but I had a similar problem with a Sony mp3 player. What I wound up doing was converting all of the files on my player to mp3 format and setting them up in folders for the artist and albums, like you would on any hard drive. I don't know what the default file format is for a Zune, but I'll bet the Lexicon won't recognize it. I think it's only designed to recognize the proprietary format that Apple uses, plus mp3.

Welcome, mrpolobrown.. I moved this into the proper forum where it will get the attention is deserves...

It's in the "Electrical, Lighting, Bluetooth, Stereo, DVD Navigation, Etcetera" forum...

Zune devices are implementing a slightly modified version of the MTP protocol to communicate over the USB port. You can adjust some registry settings on your PC to have it show up as a storage device in explorer but you can not use it as a replacement for a USB memory key or hard drive.

These devices implement the USB mass storage device class protocol which the Zune does not support.

I am afraid you are out of luck with using the Zune in the Genesis.

Cheers

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Thanks! I really appreciate the detailed response.

So is there anyway I can change any settings within the Zune itself? So that it can be recongnized? Or is the only way I can play the Zune in the Genesis is by connecting it via AUX cable?

You should always be able to connect an external audio source via the aux cable. You just won't have any head unit control. Think of the car as a big, dumb set of external speakers at that point.
