  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just passed the 50,000 mile mark and i have a few issues and i'm hoping someone else has experience this and can give me some advise.

1. My driver side front tire had to be replaced, and upon inspection all 4 tires have wear on the inside edge of the tire. This may be a tire issue or something with the wheels. I have had an alignment problem since almost the beginning with my car leaning to the left. Once the tire was replaced, the leaning problem got drastically better.
2. Rear view camera doesn't work, backing up at work, i look at the screen is black. I will take it in to get fixed shortly, i want to see if it corrects itself or not.
3. When i play the radio or ipod and i receive or make a call, once the call is over, the volume on the phone has gone up almost like a boost. But once i change the volume (even if i put up the volume one click) it goes down.
4. When i close the sunroof after it's been open i hear the motor still running after the window is closed.

Just my issues, still love the car, i need AWD though but it's a great car anyway.

Mis-aligment should have been noticed by your dealer during your service visits and corrected.

What? Almost everyone with a 2009 Genesis has noticed the car pulls to the left (some slightly, and some not so slightly). Very few have gotten it to steer straight even after dealer alignment (dealer always says alignment is within specs). Some steering components where improved for 2010 model, but I don't know what they are exactly.

I am speaking of tire wear. A pull to one side may not cause tire wear. Caster or camber not adjusted correctly will cause a pull to one side and a defective tire or tires can cause pulling. Camber or toe being out of proper adjustment will cause tire wear.

I had uneven tire wear on my left front. Many others had similar problems and dealer always said that alignment was correct for everyone that I saw who posted about it. Dunlop may be partly to blame, but not completely IMO.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I think with the nav upgrade that volume problem was resolved. But it isn't free for most.

Update - the rear camera corrected itself but i will monitor it, the dealer said the same thing to me as other, alignment is within specs, but when we noticed the tire wear and i told him alignment was done by the dealership, he looked at the rep like why didn't we catch/fix this. The saga continues....

Based on all the other posts about tire wear on the Genesis (especially 2009 model) I suspect that the problem cannot be fixed if the alignment is done to specs, or that it cannot be fixed at all with the existing suspension components.

I've had the problem with the rear camera three times now. This morning it did it again and I turned the car off and then back on and it still didn't work. I will find out today when I go home if the problem corrected itself again. I wonder if it will start to occur more often. It seems to me that if it happens again and I don't have to be somwhere and it is within business hours that I need to take it in at that moment. It's one of those things that the dealer will look at you like you are on drugs if they can't see it. Trusting a customer that it actually occured never seems to be the case,at least for me.

Update 2 - I forgot to mention the parking assist, the damn thing keeps going off for no reason. While i'm driving and at the light by myself, it's gotten to the point i had to turn it off. I forgot to mention it to the dealership on my last visit but i'll put it on my list for next time.

Still love the car though but.....

I also had the problem with the rear camera. It kept working intermittently.

I took it to the dealer and they said the problem was an open circuit.

It was replaced under warranty.

Have not had a problem since.

Do you still have the OEM tires on your car?

yes and no, the front driver tire is new, bought it a few weeks ago, the other 3 tires are still OEM. I am suprised how different that one tire made, the dragging to the left has improved dramatically. I will change the other 3 tires shortly. I am still wondering why my winter tires does the same thing with my oem tires though, i'll have to check that out.
