  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Today in the morning I picked up some coffee from a local shop and noticed something wrong in the front when I came out. Yep, it's been a week since I bought the car and someone had bumped into it; damaging the front grill /cry.

Dealer recommended I need to replace the grill and do some paint job.
I am guessing that will be hundreds of dollars :( I had just signed the insurance with a $500 deductible.

I am looking for suggestions/recommendations.
Thanks

That is just wrong. Damage to that left headlight as well? Or is it just a ghost image? Tough either way. Good luck!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Looks like you can do a touch-up on the bumper and it won't be noticeable - The grill needs to be replaced. It'll cost less than your deductible, I am sure.

Do you remember any place you went to that are most probable places where you got bumped? I would request surveillance videos so you can track down whoever was liable for the damages.

Thanks for suggestions folks. I ran out to check the headlight after moose's msg but luckily it was not damaged *phew*.

I'm very sorry to see your Genny dinged like that. I know I would be really p*ssed if that happened to my new 1 week old. How close were you parked? to the common parking lot area?

I noticed that when you have a new car people with trash heaps like to park closer than normal to your wheels, that is why as soon as I'm behind the wheel of my 2010, I plan on parking away from the rift raft of trash heapers.

Just beware as possible if you can when parking in a lot, remember people like to get too close to expensive cars.

Hit and run bastards. Each and every one of them.

Sure it wasn't a large rock or something? I can't see how another car could have done that. My only other thought is someone in a pickup truck backed into it with his hitch. I call them SMITs -- Small Man In Truck Syndrome... it's always the 4ft9 boys in big F350 dually's they can't handle, pulling a jet ski (if anything.) :D

Either way, that's terrible. That would be a big bummer after a week of ownership. Fortunately, it's not something that would cause structural damage. Hope you get it worked out.

Its going to take more than touch up paint to fix that plastic bumper.
Just the bumper alone, to fix and paint will cost more than $500. No idea what the cost will be to replace and paint that bumper. This is in addition the to cost of a new grill, plus labor to install.

:confused::mad::(

As I posed above, the grille can be purchased for less than $100 and it's a breeze to install yourself. The bumper damage is merely cosmetic from the looks of things and a mobile repair service used by dealers everywhere can have it fixed in a matter of 1-2 hours for no more than $200. I had this done of my VW and BMW and you couldn't even tell where the chips in my paint were after they were done.

Bumper does not bother me that much but griller does. I googled a bit and saw price tags around $500. Is there any site you could point me to for $100ish ?

Thank you!

Look up to my 1st post. I provided a link to ebay. Anyone charging $500 for the grille is crazy. Even Korean Auto Imports has them for $249, and they're pretty pricey IMO.

I was not able to check the site for some time. Somehow I missed your first message. Thank you very much for advice and links!
