  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Jim Hudson Hyundai of Columbia, SC is just a bit on the inept side. I had "auto" headlight issues for months and they never could "duplicate" the problem. I couldn't never get the auto feature to work...... strange, right.

At long last after 7 trips to try to get this issue fixed, they discovered it was a problem with the driver's side door light switch(?).

Also, they took the dash out several times and each time they would "muddy" up my "C" pillar posts on the inside.

It was an exasperating experience to say the least. I just don't think they have the proper incentive for the technicians to do their best work. They are friendly and accommodating, just a little inept at the "getting it fixed" end of business. So much of mechanics these days with cars is parts replacement, not fixing the broken/defective part, just replace it. That's not being a mechanic in my book. But, that's life with most cars these days.

I'm just not very happy about the state of affairs with auto repair any more.

You're not alone my friend. I have a bunch of mechanic buddies and they straight up tell me that the more cars they service the more they get paid. Therefore, they push cars in and out quickly. Replacement is the fastest way to do this. Got a rattle or squeak? Keep it to yourself. They arent going to be bothered trying to find it let alone fix it.

BTW: all of my mechanic buddies work for Hyundai. And they all wonder why I "hang out" with them while they work on my car...
