  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all! New member and first time Genesis owner. My wife and I put a deposit down on a 2.5T Advance Plus trim earlier this week (Uyuni White w/Havana Brown). We’re told it will be at least 4 months for delivery, but we’ve locked in a pretty fair trade-in value.

I troll forums a lot and read/watch as many reviews as I can when it comes to a car purchase. We’re upgrading from her 2017 Tiguan Wolfsburg (I’ve only known VWs for a looong time), and cross-shopped the usual suspects (Q5, X3, GLC, etc). To put in frankly, I could not find a similarly equipped vehicle for less than $4-5k more. That’s taking into consideration pricing, features, lack of negotiation room due to inventory shortages, interest rates, etc. Must haves for her were memory seating and a heated steering wheel, I just wanted ventilated seats and a ‘sporty’ amount of horsepower.

My wife and I have fairly similar driving styles, and the GV70 checked most of the boxes. My sweet spot would’ve been something akin to a Macan GTS, but the price for one of those is a hard ‘no thank you’ to me. I am a previous 2018 Golf R owner, which I sold in Sept 2020 when we realized only 1 car was really being driven (mine). We’re now both fully remote and having 2 cars for now doesn’t make sense.

We didn’t get to test anything below the Prestige, so I’m a little apprehensive about the steering wheel myself, but I couldn’t justify the extra $4k for the Prestige to get the 3-spoke and what little else it really brought to the table beyond nicer aesthetics. I also haven’t seen the Havana Brown except in pictures and videos and am not sure how much I’ll like it (looks light in 'real world' photos and much darker in the order image), but that was what the wife thought would look good together.

All in all though, I am happy about the purchase and am patiently waiting for the next update of our vehicle starting its journey from Korea to us!
