  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

"Junior Luxury

I don't believe that Hyundai releases separate sales numbers for the Genesis Sedan and Coupe. The Coupe is not a "Jr Luxury" car, and has little in common with the Sedan.

Wow, if that's true, it's rather stupid.
It's two totally different cars.

Here is my explanation. For most cars that have coupe and sedan versions, they are usually very similar (like Infiniti G37 Coupe and Sedan). But the Genesis is not a model in Korea, it is a brand (which is why there is no Hyundai logo on the KDM versions).

So in Korea the Genesis Coupe and Sedan are 2 different models and sales would be reported separately, but when HMA decided to brand them as Hyundai's, the model for both became Genesis and they were lumped together for sales reporting purposes to be consistent with other automakers sales reporting practices.

Very good point, I never did understand the thinking behind launching the coupe under the Genesis brand. I know Lexus did it back in 1990 (introducing both a sedan and coupe under the Lexus brand) but those were comparable cars, if I recall correctly, even sharing most chassis and engine components.
