  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

By no means do I believe in "Global Warming!" HA! I personally think that it is one of the biggest scams this country has ever seen.

"Green?" NO!

I just like the fact that I will get 32 MPG in the CITY!

But Yes, I do recycle and pick up trash along a mile dedicated to our church...for those who's toe's I just stepped all over. :p

Has anyone owned/own one of these?

I purchased it on Ebay a few nights ago and am going to pick it up at a Mercedes-Benz dealer in Alphretta, Georgia first thing in the morning. According to Carfax, it is clean and a 1-owner vehicle with all maint. performed at regular intervals.

The bad...I have not even seen this car yet besides pictures on ebay. I had the internet manager walk around the vehicle while she was on the phone with me. I told her VERY bluntly, that if I find anything that is different than what she told me that I will turn down the sale, leave negative feedback, and report them to Ebay. She accepted the obligation!

Supposedly it has $8K worth of upgrades (Nav, rear DVD, Adaptive HID lighting, etc...).

The facts:

2007 Lexus RX400h
28K miles
Black/Tan

NADA Retail - $35,800
Price Paid - $30,999 + tax = $32,100

The original window sticker in the picture said that it was worth $54,900 new.

I think I got a GREAT deal! The dealer specifically mentioned that she needed to get her competition off the lot!

Any thoughts? Have any of you ever ridden in one?

First and foremost...before I get bashed for buying it on ebay...My uncle bought a used Tahoe from an individual and sadly enough, he got a Lemon. I myself, purchased from a dealer which makes all the difference in the world...and THANK THE GOOD LORD it was a reputable MB dealer with plenty of Positive feedback! I consider myself "advanced" when it comes to ebay. I buy and sell golf equipment weekly.

I have never driven a car with CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) and wonder how long that will hold up with my LEAD foot. HA! The Genesis has spoiled me!

Oh well, I will quit rambling.:o

So what made you not consider/purchase the Veracruz? I love the Veracruz, but would wait for the new model to be available so the front end/grill is changed to look more like a luxury SUV, although the Veracruz is beautiful on every other angle.

As he mentioned, likely the 32 mpg city driving:)

Congrats on the acquisition! Let us know what your thoughts are after some time behind the wheel.

My wif5e has an RX300 with 165,000 miles. The only things we have done to this car are replace one light bulb and the 90,000 timing belt. She loves this car and it ended up being the cheapest car we have ever owned due to the total lack of repair. I use Mobil 1 about every 7-8000 miles. These cars are easy to drive, park and very comfy on long trips. They are also great in the snow with the right tires. I have the Michellen LT's on mine but also have had the Cross Terains. LT's offer much better traction and mileage with only a mild sacrifice in ride quality.Lots of little gizmos in tech package. Great choice! At 28k it is still almost brand new for a Lexus. Sounds like you are stealing it if it is clean and crash free.

I think you will love the RX 400 and I wish you many happy and safe miles.:welcome:

Yes, I'm sure the MPG had a LOT to do with his purchase. And we cannot forget that Lexus is a top-tier luxury automobile manufacturer.. It's not difficult to see why he chose the RX400h.. I have an RX350 myself..

Yes, PingGolf.. I think you got a great deal.. Post some pictures! And no, there's nothing wrong with buying from eBay. It's not like you paid for it without seeing/test driving it...

I had one of those as well.. (My wife drives the RX's) We never had a problem with that car.. In fact, there are some things I like about the original RX300 even better than the newly redesigned 2010 RX350.

PingGolf,

Shoot me an email..... maybe we can meet. You'll be passing just alittle North of where I live but if you're taking I-20 E before hitting 285N, you'll be passing my house. :)

Oh.. Congrats as well :D

I understand, I meant besides that.......

Thanks ALL for the comments!

BIGELM! Dude, I hate I missed you! I am working 2nd shift (4PM-3AM). I got home at 3:30am, took a shower, picked up my dad and he drove the whole way while I slept this morning. We even took the GEN! We took I20 to I285 to 400/19 to McFarland Rd/PKWY. We got there about 10AM, Georgia time. I purchased the car at RBM-North Merc-Benz dealer. I would have loved to have met up with you...even though I looked drugged from lack of sleep...HA! Next time Im in Atlanta, I will look you up!

SCOTTDK! I test drove the VeraCruz and enjoyed it...however, it didnt have that "Genesis" touch. Give me the V8 option, a little more hype in the design, and some nice stock rims and it would have been sold. Surely a redesign is in the near future...especially if they plan on selling some of them.

Ok...like I mentioned to ELM...I was pooped...and almost scared to drive it, but once I turned the key...it did nothing. I sat out there for 20 min. trying to figure out why the motor wasnt running. Finally the detail guy came out and explained the Hybrid system to me. Well, I felt like a major DA!:o HA! Ok, so this thing is like a golf cart...SILENT. So we sounded like the Jetson's as we puttered around the parking lot with the electric motors softly whispering to us. Pretty cool!

We finished the papers and hit the trail. First thing was the on-ramp. I was afraid I had just purchased one of the slowest vehicles of all time! Especially compared to my 375HP BEAST that is behind me. So I said, "What the heck..." I hammered it to the floor. SQUEEELLLL...and there is the almighty Traction Control! HOLY MOLY! This thing will flat out run! I looked in my rear view mirror and saw my dads eyes popping out of his head!

Now, Im in love! I was pimping down I-285, bobbing and weaving, and my dad was right on my tail...of course...he is the one who taught me how to drive! :D

Well, I made it back to Hartselle, AL just in time to take Daisy out and let her plant a yard bomb, get a 5 min. shower and head to work...and this is where I am right now. I have to be honest, I have been here since 3:30 and It takes 8 fingers to tell you how many times I have walked to the door and snuck a peek. Its fixing to be 9! HA!

Now, of course my Gen is spick and span! Any time we travel, she is clean. When we first arrived, we parked at the front door. We literally took 3 steps and walked inside. First things first...POTTY BREAK...and a donut, some fruit punch, a small bag of white cheddar popcorn, and a bottle of water. These MB people have got it right...PAY ATTENTION HYUNDAI! As we were talking to our salesman, BILL, dad made eye contact with me and nudged his head towards the window. To my amazement, there were 7 people hovered around the rear end of my car. Knowing good and well they just read the license plate cover that said "2009 North American Car of the Year!" Oh...I was in HEAVEN! The looks on these prestigious mens faces were priceless. Of course, I had to go give a tour...(pretending I needed to get something out of the glove box)! I took 4 of them around the parking lot and they were simply amazed...or shaking in their boots!!!

Anywho, Ill quit rambling.

As of this moment, I love the RX400h. I love the fact that the previous owner took the hit...financially!

I will post some pics of both of them in the driveway...hopefully in the AM. Heck, I may even make a video...we will see.

Have a great day yall!

And their prices afford them to provide those perks. If it ever gets to that point with Hyundai, they'll end up dropping features from their cars or raising the prices.

I would only hope and trust that they are smarter than that. After all, they did just build a World Class, Game-Changing vehicle.

But wait...didnt they just lose the guy who campaigned this car all over the world....uhhh ohhhh.

Here are some pics for ya:
