I have driven Genesis 3.8 vehicles since August of 2008. I drove a 2009 for three years, and now have 3 years and 64,000 miles on my 2012. Overall I love the cars. The roomy cabin and the smooth, quiet ride make driving a real pleasure. The 2009 produced a jarring ride over bumpy roads, but that was my only complaint, and I don't drive many bumpy roads. But with the 2012 I have had nothing but problems with the electronics. It has frustrated me to no end. The rear seat heater had to be replaced, the backup camera broke and had to be replaced, the parking sensors no longer work, and the cruise control no longer works. And the entertainment system--oh the entertainment system! I would say I have had the car in the dealer at least 12 times for the entertainment system. The CD changer failed, ate my CD's and was replaced-- twice (yes I still listen to CD's). It has failed again, and is now out of warranty according to the dealer. The AM radio reception is terrible, and even local stations are frequently unintelligible (yes I still listen to AM radio). They replaced the radio twice, replaced the "audio head", replaced the back windshield (for the antenna), and still no improvement.
The lease is up on the 2012 and I want to buy a 2015--I really do. I have test driven a '15 and like it. I love that Hyundai is competing with the luxury vehicle makers at prices that provide great value, and I want to support that. But I have been so frustrated with the 2012 systems constantly failing that I just can't seem to pull the trigger. What shall I do? Someone please help me........
