  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

K&N air filter

I have a 2013 3.8 Premium/Technology. The first thing I did was to install a K&N filter. I have K&N in every vehicle I own.

Have them on both the Mrs. 4.6 and my 2013 R-Spec and they work great, no need to change them, have serviced the 4.6 K&N filter 4 times in the last 6 years (done 49k miles)...

Also my friend has it on his 2012 R-Spec as well in his 2013 3.8 Tech and he also likes them...

a very simple mod, and something that I've done on all of my vehicles.

With every K&N I've owned, if the routine service isn't done to maintain them, you may have issues with the MAF.

Had the same issues on my Range Rover, Discovery 2, 2 different Sonatas and my Genesis.

I installed a K&N in my 2012 3.8L not long after I got it as well. Follow the instructions precisely to clean and regen it. If you use TOO much spray (oil), it could cause problems with the MAF sensor (so keep some MAF sensor cleaner on hand). However, I have K&N filters installed in every vehicle I own, to include my Suzuki motorcycle.

The only advantage to the K&N is the money you save by cleaning and recharging the filter instead of buying new paper filters. I clean and recharge twice a year on all my filters and have saved an bundle over the years (an OEM Suzuki filter for my motorcycle is $30+) with the Genesis, 2004 Envoy, 1990 Isuzu Pickup, and Suzuki 650.
