  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

KBB Long term wrap up

I don't know how they get a value of $38k for a '15 Ultimate with 16k miles.

My friend just bought a new '16 Ultimate for $38k.

EDIT: Just ran the numbers on KBB, and according to their web site the value of their test car (private party sale) is $28k.

Yep .. resale value of this car sucks. Last time I'll buy a Hyundai just for that reason. It is a shame because the car has been great for me.

Mine has been great too. So why not keep it until like 300,000 miles and not worry about resale. I'm thinking about keeping mine until 300k. I now have 191,000 on it.

The value he mentioned seemed about right and he didn't seem alarmed by the numbers. What a glowing review. Kudos to Hyundai!

Not sure where you guys are located - but within 150 miles of Chicagoland there are 38 2015's listed between 32 and 42k at dealers. KBB private party shows at 31.8k as configured like the kbb review. truecar is showing market price to be around 35k, with only 3 being 1000-2500 below market price in a 150 mile radius.

It probably boils down to trim level - but at least in the upper-midwest, the car seems to be doing pretty good on retention.

THAT BEING SAID - If your big concern is depreciation, then the luxury car market is not for you. No matter the brand. No matter the price - it will depreciate faster and more than even some of the biggest pieces of shit on the road that are not in the lux market. Buy the car to enjoy it for what it is and drive the wheels off of it... because is what it is worth to you. If there is any car that qualifies for that kind of perspective, it is this one. Between the overall mechanical quality and the warranty that comes with it - combined with the entry or even used price.... buy it and run it into the ground.

You will NOT find a better value or hassle-free purchase in this market segment, far as I am concerned. Line up any of the other same-class lux vehicles against it... between purchase price, maintenance costs, warranty coverage, etc - it beats the pants off all of the Germans and obliterates the likes of Jag. The only car that comes close is the Lexus.
