  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My car is 4 years*old, 30,000 miles only, and recently I had to change the batteries in both key fobs within a few months of each other. What surprised me is the 3 volt battery read 2.8 volts in each case. I would have expected that the voltage would have to fall to say 2.5 before they would give up. Anyone else share this experience?

New 3V batteries will read 3.4 - 3.5 V. 2.8 might not be completely exhausted but it's close. The remote might need a higher voltage to operate.

stuz88,

Do you remember what was the marking on the battery?

CR2032, MADE IN CHINA. Appears to say 1Y on the negative side.

Thanks.
Now the question is how do I open that key fob?

EDIT.
Never mind, found it on YouTube.
