  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

it is getting worst every day.. I stab the brake..I insert the fob into the fob socket.... nothing.. I pull the key out and put it back..
does anyone know what I can do?

thank you in advance

Most likely there is an issue with the brake pedal permissive to allow the car to start.
Need to take the car to the dealer service department and have them look at it.
This has been a fairly common issue and 99.9% of the time it's the brake pedal permissive isn't adjusted or working right.

Does the dash say anything about having to press the brake pedal before starting? If so, the brake switch is most likely defective.

If not, have you tried to replace the battery of the key fob?

Fob does not need to be put in slot to start the car. Make sure you push brake pedal down before pushing start button. I also agree with others that the brake pedal lock out switch is out of adjustment or is defective.

found out the problem:
need to put key in slot to re charge the battery in the fob..

it was a fob key issue

thank you all for you assistance and recommedations...:grouphug:.

The key slot does NOT charge the battery FYI. I believe this is also mentioned in the owners manual.

+1^ Why do people keep thinking the car can charge the battery in the fob?

Read the manual folks.

Replace the battery. Doesn't charge.

Rule #1 for Key Fob issues:
Replace the Battery.

Rule #2:
See Rule #1.

No disrespect.. i took it to the service dept and I am going by what they told me. .. I asked them if they changed the battery and they said "no, we charged it" this is the Hyundai dealer in Marlton

Unfortunately its impossible they charged it. The fob lacks the inductive coil required for wireless charging, and doesn't have any exterior touch points. I would advise avoiding that dealer in the future at all costs as they are clearly unqualified to work on your car.

Section 4 of my 2011 Genesis sedan manual has the information on the smart key and battery replacement. Example-if the key is placed near a cell phone the key may not work.
