Has anyone bought an aftermarket key fob and did it work?
Yes, quite a few. I'm surprise none showed up when you did a search.Has anyone bought an aftermarket key fob and did it work?
Are there really that many discussions about the GV60 key fob? Are we assuming the key fob hardware and process is the same across all Genesis models? How many Genesis models are using ccIC hardware for user authentication? There are plenty of discussions on here on the process to purchase/reprogram a FOB. Search is your friend.
To be fair, I think there are reasonable errors on both sides. The OP did not in his initial post state that it was for a GV60 so it was fair for forum members to point out the many threads on the topic for Genesis cars; on the other hand, the OP did include in his avatar the fact that he owns a GV60 so as he point out, there have not been many threads that involve his head unit. Are there really that many discussions about the GV60 key fob? As far as I can tell there is just a single posting about buying a key fob from eBay, paying a locksmith to program it, and then it being inconsistent.
This forum is great and I’m all for people using the search function, but I swear I’ve never been part of an automotive forum where there have been so many thread responses from people who don’t own the model in question or at least have knowledge of the uniqueness of the model.
Guess I'll have to let the locksmith that did mine know that he can't do it and should stop.I don’t believe anyone, other than the dealer can program the fob, ...
