  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Kia K9

Personally I like the styling of the Genesis better. I am not a fan of the pumpkin tooth looking grill on the K-9 either. It looks a lot like a Jaguar...but not in a good way! Thats just my opinion...

The K9 would look better if it got rid of the "kink" on the bottom of the headlight casing and switched the vertical slats on the grill for something more sporty like a mesh or interlocking grill treatment.

It looks severely constipated.

I actually think it looks nice... But I thought it was more of an Equus cousin...

K5 = Optima
K7 = Genesis
K9 = Equus

The K7 is the Cadenza which would be Azera. The Genesis is sort of K8 in that it is right below the K9 and the Equus would be more like K10 since it is right above the K9.

from what i read this is the impression i got too

I like that K8/K10 thing. Good call...

As for the K9... meh. Sure, it's really nice, but there's something about the red gauges of a Kia that just doesn't seem to do anything for me. I like the direction of the Hyundai interiors infinitely better, tbh.

And there are some really unflattering angles on the K9.

Here's the worst:

Figured out where I've seen it before!

I'm just messin'.... but I think the Genesis looks great from every angle :)

Ruissimo, you slay me with the fish photo! WTF? LMFAO!!!! Awesome.:D

LOL But your analogy is spot on... how fishy! The design engineers are not earning their keep and should have opted for input from here & the think tank.

:p

that particular angle is really unflattering. LOL.
however, i still prefer the K9 and new Azera over the Genesis in the styling dept.

i realized i posted this thread in the wrong section - should have been general discussion.

Yep - the K9 pretty much splits the diff. btwn the Genesis and Equus (altho, right now, it probably has the nicest interior and the more high tech features).

If Kia greenlights the GT, that would also be a "tweener" btwn the Genesis and the Hyundai's upcoming 3 Series competitor.

Actually think the shape of the headlights and how it integrates into the flow of the hoodline is pretty neat there (most noticeable on the left side of the photo).

Schreyer needs to go back and reshape the grill (the bottom ends angle upwards too much) and replace the vertical slats w/ something more sporty (some type of mesh or interlocking grill treatment).

I guess the grill is inspired by BMW.

I think it MUST get rid of that vertical grill before it will sell here. Can't just sort of copy the Genesis, though. Didn't someone mention stainless steel mesh? That might look good.
