  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Equus and K900 will fight each other for the small pool of customers willing to spend $60k while trading a prestige badge and heritage for Value. On the surface, doesn't appear to be a good business proposition for either brand....other than for the halo effect of increasing sales of the volume models.

I wish them good luck. Will probably lease one next Spring.

I think most of us know the Cadenza is the sister of the Hyundai Azera. This may be the sister of the Genesis and will give us a very good idea of what to expect in the 2014 Genesis. Kinda like the heated and cooled seats all around including the rear complete with reclining rear seats and rear climate control. Hope the 14" screen will be adopted in the Genesis. Heck, the analog clock is even synced with gps to automatically adjust time. Almost makes me wonder if this is not an attempt to fill the gap between the Equus and the Genny.

Article I read said 420hp which would be just a hair under the current Genny R-spec.
Engine is the same, but probably differences are in headers, exhaust, ECU, etc. Similar reasons as to why Genesis Coupe and Sedan V6 have different HP.

Hyundai and Kia share technology and parts, but they make their own marketing decisions. From what I read, the K900 is indeed in-between the Genesis and Equus, but not necessarily with the approval and coordination with Hyundai marketing.

In cases where systems are outsourced (such as audio/video/nav) they may have completely different systems.

The Kia K-900 (I'd have thought marketing executives could arrive at a more upscale name) is a clone of the Equus not the Genesis. Seems to me that these two models will compete against one another, with hopes that drivers of Genesis, Chrysler 300 or Lincoln might be conquests.

I don't think anybody will cross shop the Korean brothers against BMW, Mercedes or Audi. Hyundai and Kia are value brands and not prestige brands.

Probably right however I bet the price will be between the Genesis and the Equus. Then again you can get this with few elaborate features and the V6 so pricing may be under an R Spec Genny.

Good-looking car. I get a kick out of all the family resemblances. I agree, 520HP sounds like a journalist typo (all too common, too). I think part of the whole deal with Kia/Hyundai/Genesis today is that you're getting a great car for a particular market segment for half or a third of the money and that irks the snobs ;) The era of such brand snobbery based on no good reason has been over for a while now, and that irks them, too.

The K-900 from what I have read is the Kia Quoris. It is the same 429hp 5.0L V8 in the Genesis Rspec sedan that we have. Maybe the author of the article printed 420HP since our genny's have 420HP if you put regular gas in them (this is spelled out in the warranty book for the 2013 genny rspec).

I did notice some small but significant changes. The dash board is flat where the start button is which prevents your knee from hitting the dash, and the seats are much more bolstered than the Genesis seats, just like the Azera seats are better bolstered and and the dash doesnt get in the way of your right knee. May sound minor, but if your right knee has been operated on a number of times and your spine the same, you need to get up to and under the dash with your legs/knees. The Genesis is a great auto, but it is less comfortable than the Azera and you cannot get the seat bottom low enough to allow you to not hit the dash on the right side.
