  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Love this car but I wish it had more of a throaty sound....anyone do anything to address that? Just curious.....

The engine sounds really good when you can hear it.

There is a CAI designed already for 4.6 and 5.0 http://www.r2cperformance.com/ scroll down a little.

There is a discussion going on about it here on the forum....use search option.

I made two changes to mine, and it went from completely silent to something that just sounds perfect! I did the flapper door mod (+ K&N drop-in), reversing the magnet:

I also did installed Dynomax VT mufflers:

It sounds AMAZING now! I really believe that if they would have come from the factory like this, they would not have been able to keep them on the lots...

Something about that throaty growl on start-up that gives me the warm and fuzzies!

Hmmmm....I'll have to look into all this..

I just love the way a Maserati sounds.....and I feel like a 429 HP car should sound louder and better than a Honda Civic. Just sayin.

I think the stock setup does sound better than the stock setup on a Civic but the OEM system is designed to be fairly quiet. I also removed the air flapper entirely and installed a set of Dynomax VT's. They sound great under throttle and product no drone on the highway which is key for me. I've had louder cars before but living with them day to day on long highway drives is pretty miserable. A manufacturer can make a 600hp+ car that sounds quiet under motion as it all comes down to exhaust tuning. I'll look into a full aftermarket intake down the line if its worthwhile. The engine will definitely sound a lot more aggressive but I'm not convinced a CAI or SRI will actually provide measureable flow or cooling benefits (might even run warmer depending on where the filter is located and if a heat shield is intalled).

but you have to understand they (hyundai) are under the impression the only people that want one of these cars are people that like their refined comfort. They dont want to hear those horses snorting and prancing they just want them to go.

That being said here is my car after replacing the exhaust.

R spec has those squares' type outlet and borlas pro xs fit nicely and are not loud. check these out .. just remember the inlet and the outlet of any muffler you buy. You don't want the mufflers to show at all you want a factory look and the VT if your muffler shop is amazingly good to get them in will show and have to be painted black. forget all that other crazy stuff save yourself some nonsense .

I'm glad VT's are finally getting some love. It's the only choice for our sedans that makes sinse.
Just my .02

I've installed MSA Cat Deletes since installing the Dynomax VT's and the car sounds amazing. Very aggressive, loud but not obnoxious and you still get the benefit of relative quiet and no drone while cruising.

Which model muffler did you go with? Is the rest of your exhaust stock?

I need to know what exhaust or setup you have that sounds real good.

Thank you! The car has 2 Magnaflow 14in body mufflers, secondary cat delete and the rest is stock. Sounds great under acceleration, quiet when cruising and minimal drone. Its perfect! I get so many compliments even at the dealer.

What does a configuration like this cost to have installed (including parts & labor)?
