  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Launch Technique How-To

Alright guys

This goes out to those who track their Gennys and those who are up for the odd red-light Grand Prix: How do you put the power down? Whether 3.8 HTRAC or 5.0 RWD, what works best for you?

Details are key: rpms, throttle input, ESP mode, manual or auto mode, what tires you're running..don't be shy...share as much as you can so that the brotherhood can learn. Any rubber donated towards the cause is appreciated 😂

I always got the best results @ the track by doing the following:

Air down my rear tires to ~20psi

ESC off

Transmission in manual mode (Let it shift on its own @ redline.)

About the time that the light tree gets into yellow I mash the gas all the way to the kick-down switch. (I only power brake for one second or so since this will cook your transmission fluid.) (Do not engage the kick-down switch, this will guarantee the ECS nanny limiting your fun. As long as you do not engage the kick-down the system will be a lot more tolerant of any shenanigans. You will get a little wheel spin and the system will utilize the electronic LSD as much as possible.)

Let the brake go on green, hold on, and keep it between the lines. With good tires and a well prepped track tire slip is minimal/almost non existent.

I can't donate any rubber, but I was running at the time Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 in 255/40-19. I just put on another set in 265/40-19 two weeks ago. I love these tires and the last set went about 30k miles in 15 months.

I can consistently run 13.3 in the 1/4 with a full trunk, (sub, amp, fairly large box, spare, trauma bag, etc.) and a quarter tank of gas.
