  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My wife has a 2013 Hyundai Genesis coupe and her leather seat started to split/ tear. Has anyone had this problem?

Take it to an auto upholstery shop for an estimate, or search the junkyards by phone/internet to find a replacement. Did you expect any different advice? If you watch TV car shows they do such things in almost every show.

He didn't ask for advice, he asked if anyone else had this problem.

Sadly, your reply didn’t help him at all. My reply saved him from asking how to get it fixed.

Yes. That's why I never had leather seats on my car again. Hot weather is one big factor in drying out the oil and weather causing it to be worn out. Also, during summer season, seating on leather seats burns my bottom.

I live in da south and wear shorts all summer. The leather seats have never burned my tender buns. Of course, I don’t have black interiors; my Genesis is beige and my Santa Fe is grey.

I really hope one day leather will stop being associated with luxury. I want a luxury car with the finest of textiles one day. I know I can get synthetic leather but that not what I want.

I want a very-fine, high-quality, microfiber cloth. Leather sucks in Texas, if you have kids, wear dark wash jeans, have a lot of intense sun, have dogs (those damn claws), etc. Someone do this for me!!!!!

That's why I'm always careful not to drive nude in the summer. Well...almost always, sometimes I get distracted and suffer the consequences

Have you ever checked out a custom upholstery shop? I'm sure it can be done but at what cost?

I don't think leather is the sign of luxury it once was. As long as we go to Burger King there will be plenty of leather at reasonable cost. Real luxury will be things like the micro fiber you want and to keep it luxurious we'll put plastic slip covers on it like in 1965.

Yeah, I'm not gonna go reupholster my seats. I want it OEM.

And leather must be, at least in the OEM minds, because you cann't get the fanciest of cars or even the fanciest of features without the "leather package". It's annoying.

I have the same problem and bought a Katzkin kit - it take a bit of work to install (unless you're willing to cough up the $$ to get someone to do it) but they look great.
