If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I have a 2015 Genesis Ultimate, has everything but no LED fog lights. What I would like to do is buy them on eBay and hook them up with the "add a fuse method". I want them to be on whenever the car is on and off whenever the car is off. Questions is, will I have any problems doing it this way? I'm thinking about tapping into a 10A fuse and hope I won't encounter any issues down the line. I found the LED fog lights on eBay for around $270 with shipping and I think that's pretty reasonable. Also, will this require me to take off my front bumper? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I didn't get any replies, I went ahead and put in my LED fog lights. It was a pain in the rear, but they look amazing. image_01.webp

Man, they look great! I can't wait to get mine in for sure. It's confusing on all the different ways people are getting it done.
How did you get your front license plate bracket off?
I hate it. Destroys the beauty of the grille.

Thank You! I live in PA (GO STEELERS) and we actually are not required to have a front license plate. There are many different ways of getting it done but the way I did it is I bought the add a fuse (micro II) and I tapped it into the washer fuse (20A) and then just found a ground for both fog lights. Honestly, it was an easy install but taking the bottom cover off (not bumper), unscrewing the plastic cover and putting in the LED fog lights was a little challenging since there's not too much space.

I'd like to eventually do this to my 2015 ultimate as well.

Is that an allfit lip you have on yours? @mladen

This looks amazing. I'd love this look, but have zero experience with car mods or understanding of the electrical ins and outs. If anyone could help a novice out as far as any sort of guide....I'd be so appreciative!!!

If you google wiring a switch, you can easily see a diagram of hooking something of this sort up. Just saying that its out there.

Thank you for the post. Did you have to remove the front bumper to install these fog lights or you just removed the bottom cover off???

I have a 2015 5.0, so it came with the fog lights. They go out when the headlights are on high beam. That has been the case with every car I've owned that had fog lights. Don't know why, but suspect there is a reason. Do yours stay on when the brights are on? If they do, it probably looks great.

MLaden:

Did the lights come with a relay or did you install one yourself?

Thank you,

JP

Hello guys,
Chrisp, I did not have to remove the front bumper, only the bottom engine cover.

JP, I did not install a relay or switch. I bought the "add a fuse micro 2" and went off my fuse box in the engine bay. I split the power wire to both left and right fog lights and found a good ground. They come on when the car is on and off when car is shut off. Also, they are REALLY bright, I love it!

US law states fog loghts must be out with high beams.....

I don't think that is correct, however, many states have regs/laws that do not allow fog light operation except in certain conditions and wiring them up to be on whenever the car/ignition is on will AFAIK be in violation of many state laws. Not sure of the legal ramifications of this, but one should be aware since it could subject you to certain liabilites in certain scenarios. Also, for states with annual safety inspections you might have problems depending on your state.

I have mine wired up to work either as the stock system would with the stalk switch or totally independent of any stock lighting scenario. I also have an option for their operation at a reduced brightness.

See, I use these as my DRL's not necessarily as my "fog lights". You have seen the newer Sonata's, they have similar style DRL's. But, for my state, you are correct, once the high beams go on, the fog lights must cut out

Larry,
Thank you for your input. Can you please post the step by step procedure (with photo if possible) on how you did it for the wiring part and the switch with a reduced brightness? Thank you for your time.....

I don't have any step by step instructions and would hesitate to provide much detailed information because this mod IMO is not for the novice. It involves using a particular installation configuration determined set of power resistors that even needed in my case the addition of a heat sink due to heat and there can be a definite risk here if not done right. Basically I powered my fog lights from the power point wires in the center console and used two switches located in the forward storage area, one for the reduced intensity mode and a second for full intensity neither which depend on the factory circuits. I also have the stalk fog light switch installed so that I can operate them just like OEM system would. Currently I power the fog lights via the power point source via a relay where I simply use the stalk fog light switch to provide the coil power to the power relay in stock mode and then with my two additional switches can provide my two instensity modes. The reduced mode does require a second relay since there are resistors in the output for the reduced intensity. Below is my "switch box" and two additional pics showing the reduced intensity mode (bottom rocker switch) and the full intensity mode (the small "button" switch above the rocker switch). These pics were of my prototype switch, which I redid to clean up its appearance and make it more professional looking.

Larry, if possible, could you again post/or send me PM your independent Fog light mod?
I don't care for lower intensity option, but need to be able to turn Fog light on any time car is on.

Thanks!

Hi kozack. I have recently installed fog lights using 5 pin relay. 5 pin relays connects through the parking light wire that connects to the headlights. It turns on fog lights when parking lights are on (you can check the final effect in this link ). I will be writing detailed instructions in the next couple of days.
