  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2010 Genesis apparently has a computer(s) gone to the dark side. I have posted some of the problems here before and now report that the Lemon Law (at least here in FL) is so far not working for me.

Hyundai sent a factory rep here to Naples FL, but his flight was cancelled (hmmm?) and I never got to talk to him. When I took the car in the next day, after the cancelled appointment, the factory rep was gone .... hmmmm?

Hyundai is last in engineering, QA and customer service but first in excuses, from my viewpoint.

Same crap about a loaner car, by the way. I am now into hundreds of dollars with rental fees. I was promised loaner cars for warranty service when long/overnight/extended service was needed. Total sales BS! Shame on Hyundai and shame on me for swallowing that crap.

Enough of that. The fact is that Hyundai cannot fix this car because all of the problems are intermittent. No dealer can fix what ain't broke, at the time of service. BUT, there are ways to diagnose and replace known defective items. I'll just offer one example ... the driver's seat will sometimes not move back (it will always move forward). This is a documented defect and Hyundai should deal with it as it could be a safety issue.

There are myriad other issues with the electronic crap that works only when it wants to.

I like driving this car (when I can move the seat). But, the misbehaving and flakey electronics are annoying, distracting, and disgusting, since I paid for stuff I can not use or can only use when the car decides it is OK to use them!

If you have a Hyundai with intermittent electronic/computer issues good luck and welcome to the losers club. (we shoulda bought a lexus!)

Man, you have a really bad Dealer. I got a loaner when my genny was in for routine service. Called in advance, no problem with Rick Case in Duluth GA and the genny was not purchaed from them. You should have been treated better. BTW my 2011 4.6 is a near perfect car with no glitches and great reliability. Your dealer should have made it right on your first visit.

For your seat problem. Have you tried pushing your seat position 1 or 2 Without Putting your foot on the brake. Sometimes if I have my foot on the brake and hit my number 1, the seat will not position properly. If I hit number 1 before I put foot on the brake to start car, seat works every time.

Have you filed a formal claim under the Lemon Law?
How many miles do you have on the car?

I think many Lemon Law claims end up either being losses or pyrrhic victories. Unless it's a major defect at the front end that really cannot be contested.

The Lemon Law can work. But often it does not.

I recently went thru a Lemon Law issue with my past car here in Cali. I know the laws are different from state to state but they should be somewhat similar.
Here, to get a car bought back under the lemon law, it must be a problem that they cannot fix that is a safety issue or the car is not drivable, i.e. the computer does not work and teh car will not move.

The seat issue is not a safety issue in the laws eyes. The computer issue may or may not be depending on what it is doing. A lot of the "Convience" items that we enjoy and think should work all the time do not constitute a lemon law issue when they don't work.

I'd say find a good lemon law lawyer down there and talk with them. Make sure to tell them everything and have all of your paperwork together, including monies you paid out for rental cars etc. They will be able to tell you if there is a case or not. But be careful as to whom you choose as a lawyer.

If you do have a case and win, you will be reimbursed the purchase price you paid along with the interest you paid and any monies that you had out of pocket for th. rental car. However, Hyundai will get a credit for milage you drove. If you get a good lawyer, his fee should be 10% of what money you actually get back. His regular fees will be paid by Hyundai.

Good luck. This is just my recent experience with the lemon law here in Cali, your milage may vary.

Correction-I hit the start buttom without my foot on the brake and the seat will go from the exit position to my position correctly every time.
