  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Why would such a "high-end" system not have the option of adjusting the bass SOLELY for the subwoofer? Am I missing something here?

Not sure bud

How many bass controls do you need?

^if there is dedicated subwoofer added to a stock speaker system with as many speakers as the lexicon, there should be a separate setting in the head unit that allows bass control for the door/component speakers (which it does)and one for the subwoofer itself.

reason being....i added a 10" sub to the trunk and removed the stock subwoofer from the rear deck. my loc is connected to the stock subwoofer wiring. i would rather provide more bass from the sub then the component speakers.

yea, i could run a bass knob solely for the sub but a system like the lexicon should have its on subwoofer setting

-1 for lexicon

Go to Settings > Treb/Mid/Bass > and adjust the one called BASS. Voila! Subwoofer setting adjustment! :D ;) :D

I don't find the need for one as the stock system is about as well-balanced as any audio system I've ever heard.

I agree with you as far as "well balanced" but you gotta admit bass response is sorely lacking. Adding a subwoofer and an amp is not really a bad idea. I have the bass all the way up and you'd never guess there actually is a subwoofer as part of this system. All in all, the lexicon system is not as good as they make it out to be...

I agree, that the Lexicon system is not fantastic, but it has nothing to do with poor base response. It is the fact that it is a car system with a budget.

Too many people think that good sound is big bass. This is simply trying to make up for deficiencies in other parts of the system.

Stereo systems is my big hobby and getting the best sound out of a system it all about making it sound like you are not listening to a stereo...

I agree to disagree! I absolutely love the lexicon surround sound system!! Best stock system by far of any vehicle i have ever purchased.. 1st car i have ever had that i didnt have to put aftermarket system in

The JBL system in my 2000 Avalon came very close to the Lexicon.

I've noticed that the bass comes up when the volume is turned up but what's nice is the sound isn't distorted as the volume increases. You can get an increase in volume without the THUMP THUMP of an overdriven bass.

Agreed!

Using the headphone jack to play Pandora my phone has an EQ so was able to adjust the bass better that way.

Come on you know that's not the same thing as a dedicated sub control. There are 17 speakers, I believe at least 5 of them are manipulated when adjusting the BASS. Plus it's not an detailed equalizer where you can control only the below 40hz frequencies.

I'm assuming the quality of your source is high enough to actually use the subwoofer, but you'd be surprised that a lot of people don't know this. Standard FM won't use them. SiriusXM is much worse. HD Radio or CD are good choices.

I came from a '12 G37x with BOSE premium sound. The bass in that car was outstanding. Took me over a year to come to grips with the Lexicon system's lack of bass. I downloaded an app on my phone (bass eq) that I use to adjust the bass levels when I am connected via BT and I can get the car rattling if I ever so desire.

I agree that some type of separate sub control would be great. It's not uncommon for some head units to have that feature built in. Sometimes you just want a little more sub bass without altering the rest of the low end tones in whatever is being listened to. Especially older recorded music.
