2012 R-spec. I recently took a round trip from Phoenix to L.A. and return. Along the way (I-10) I constantly tuned in both AM and FM to see what the range of the Lexicon radio was and was severely disappointed. Compared to car radio's I have owned in the past the Lexicon performed very poorly on both....but the AM side was almost completely dead. The FM side seems to work just fine in an urban setting but the range outside city limits is not up to modern standards. The AM side is almost useless in either scenario.
I posted my findings on a radio board I frequent and have discovered other testers have verified my findings. One member, who tests cars for a living, recently drove a Kia K9000 and had the same experience (with the same radio). Switched to a Mitsubishi <something or other with a different radio> and was able to pull in AM's from 170 miles away.
Anyone with a Lexicon system have better results?
