  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thought we could have a thread on USB flash drive based music experiences in the G2 Hyundai Genesis.

I only have the entry level Lexicon (signature package), but i must say it has the best MP3 decoder and DAC i have ever heard in a car. I have tried all of the media on the system for musicality--the radios and audio CDs, etc. The USB flash drive with 320kbps MP3 rules so far.

I made my own MP3 music files using mostly foobar2000 and LAME. I am still amazed by how much music can be put on a 16GB flash drive. At 320 kbps, it amounts to 5 days of continuous playback approximately.

Folks, we are probably listening to some of the best digital car audio out there.

What has been your experience?

While I prefer lossless files for playback, the simplicity of the jukebox and issues with my iPod Classic have me listening to 320 MP3's currently. The system does a nice job, however has some EQ issues as well as over boosted mids and mediocre low end bass which hamper it from being stellar. I have found that using a -4 or-5 on the mids and lowering the treble a few clicks as well as the bass make for a good sound for most songs.

I believe the Lexicon is a fine product and great choice for this car, but the lack of punchy, tight bass and a three band EQ help limit the possibilities of the system. It still is one of the better all around OEM systems and really shines with lossless material and some EQ fiddling.

Your description for the EQ settings was a bit confusing.

Can you clarify where you set each?
BASS, MID, and TREBLE

Got it!
I'm pretty happy with mine, but I may give these a shot.

I don't recall the exact number, but my Bass is + 3 or 4, Mid down a couple, and treble up a few.

Road and wind noise obliterate mids and highs so i have MID and TREBLE boosted +3 or +4, can't remember. BASS is flat. Surround OFF. There is some peakiness in the upper bass but overall it goes down pretty low on music from performers like Delerium and Burial. Not like my home subwoofer, of course, but surprisingly close in terms of even response.

I have a very nice digital setup at home and i was very surprised at the detail and finesse the Lexicon exhibited on material i am very familiar with.
