  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Liscence Plate Removal/Patch

Yeah I used to live in Skillman and changed my front bumper after mounting an intercooler to a VW, new bumper didn't get drilled and therefore no plate. Never an issue, and NJ troopers were STRICT.

It's a small world - it was a Skillman cop that pulled me over as I work in Skillman and live in Belle Mead :)

Awesome! We used to be in Cherry Valley and a bunch of friends of ours live over in Belle Meade off of Bridgepoint/206. I went to Montgomery so most of my friends are over there.

I got pulled over yesterday for No Front Plate. Got a warning. I purchased my car CPO here in TX and it did not come with the factory OEM front bumper mount. The bracket is $90-$45 from various Genesis dealers. Calls to the dealer got me the runaround - talked to 3 people and am once again awaiting the "call back" from the dealer. IMO, the correct answer should have been, "We're sorry. We'll send you a front LP bracket immediately."

"Love the car. Hate the Service." Should be the Genesis motto!

It was just announced that the police will NOT stop a car in Washington State for a missing front plate as long as that's the only reason to be pulled over. Pulled over for anything else and the missing front plate will be an add on violation. Short version, obey all driving laws and you can toss your front plate away.

You can try going back to the dealer where you bought it, but I highly doubt you'll get satisfaction unless you buy a lot of cars from them.

My dealer in the Seattle area put the front plate holder on either before I saw the car or while it was being prepped while I was signing the paperwork. IF the front plate holder comes from Genesis, I don't see why they wouldn't give you one.

It is included with the car. Hyundai used to stash the bracket and screws with the spare tire. You might want to see if it is still there.

LOL! Called dealer 5 times now. Left 4 messages over 3 days for parts manager who never called me back. Then I left a message for the GM. Then I talked to the GM's assistant who promised they would take care of this for me, and would call me back with news. waiting..... (BTW, this is a CPO car - the part is not in the trunk. )

At this point I am not even asking them to give it to me - just call me back! I'm now on 5-6 unreturned calls to the dealer from whom I purchased the car (they are 300 miles away so dropping in is not an option). It's only $50 wholesale and I'm willing to pay it.

BTW, this is the second run-in with the police because of issues with the dealer. They originally failed to send my registration into the DMV. A few days after the paper tag expired I was pulled over by 4 police cars and questioned for 30 min's because they thought the car was stolen. It was a tense situation. When the police called it in, the previous owner's name and registration was still on record and obviously did not mach my name. And since I live over 300 miles away, the cops figured something was not right. Luckily it was already insured in my name and I had the bill of sale on my phone.

As I explained to the police, most car thieves don't insure their stolen car!

The original poster Munch hasn’t been with us since 2018. I’m guessing he’s in the tank for lack of a front plate, discovered by a cop who pulled him over for speeding.
