  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For "all of you" viewers who won't buy an Equus UNLESS the dealership is charging MORE than the list price, this list is for you! As replies are made to this discussion, I will update this post...

1. Rick Case Hyundai in Davie, Florida
2. ???

This is a difficult list. I know that my dealer got away with charging higher than MSRP for the first month or two of the Gen. By November when I got mine they were still getting MSRP, but not even trying for "over". That said...

For someone walking in off the street they may try the same for Equus. But if I walk in to upgrade from the Gen I know they wouldn't charge me even MSRP.

I know it's supply and demand, and early adapters often pay more than they should (original iPhone owner here that saw a $200 price drop 60 days later!).

The Equus is one major reason to maintain ThinkTank membership. They offered employee pricing to members on the Genesis (2% under invoice), maybe they'll do the same for the Horse(?)

What is "Think Tank Membership"???

It is based on an opinion type forum. I received an email from hyundai asking me to join and give my opinions on different things. I supplied the requested info and they accepted me. I've read somewhere they have about 1000 members.

As being a member of the Think Tank, you are able to purchase any Hyundai car at dealer invoice less 2% and less advertising expenses. I just picked up my new 3.8 V6 Touring Coupe for $26,640 (plus freight, taxes and title) where the retail price was $29,850. (has automatic transmission). Not a bad deal for giving some opinions.

(I forgot to add that I used their leasing program that included an additional $1000 rebate which reduced the $26,640 price even more)

HG, I'd submit that your list is woefully short. EVERY dealer would charge above list as long as the customers are willing to pay it. Is this a great country or what?! :p

I take back what I said above...

My dealer will NOT be selling the Equus at all. To make the cut, Hyundai is requiring "stand alone" dealerships. My guy also sells VWs.

Also, selling dealers are being required to buy some "special" equipment to service the Horse costing around $20K.

Now, if I want to go with the Horse, I'll be a stranger to the dealer and likely be asked to pay over MSRP!!!!

Sigh.

I'm sure Roseville Hyundai will charge a markup just like they do on most Genesis models. :(

Is it possible to request membership?

I whole-hardheartedly believe that capitalism rules above all, that's how we get above average corruption!

If I can charge, I WILL!

I have no problem with someone trying to make money. I just refuse to pay an extra premium for any car. Some people will but I will just wait and eventually, the premium will disappear.

We were told Equus will NOT be available to think tank. They advised limited number available would not permit. Go figure.

Talked to my dealer (Saturday) who confirmed that, but said rewarding early Genesis adopters with rebate/special lease terms was still being considered.
(He was in Korea a couple of weeks ago and raised/pushed the issue.)
Also said the Equus was being delayed due to "minor" quality issues, and that it wouldn't be released unless "perfect". Said that Hyundai was in no hurry.

My "closest" dealer in Leesburg FL has a "Bump UP Sticker" of $5000 on the window, right next to the MSRP sticker.

My "selling & servicing" dealer in Orlando has NO Bump Up Sticker on the Equus window. No idea how much he will let them go for.

I sat in a Primium ($65K) the other day at my selling/servicing dealer. Nice! They want me to take a test drive, however I'm afraid I'd like it too much and then I'd have to figure out how to pay for it.

For now, I will just keep my Genesis, even though I hate the "jittery" ride. (If and/or when I get rid of the Genesis, it will be only because of the TERRIBLE ride.) (I've been thinking of trading the Continental for a 2010/2011 SHO as my wife likes them [and so do I])

Jenkins in Ocala FL is charging over MSRP. How do I know, well I leased one! Still feel stupid about how the numbers were run! Love the car, even with the trunk problem. Now I'm wishing I'd waited for the 2012 Equus.:(
