  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We are mostly spoiled rotten with features in the Genny but there are a few things I would like to see added or modified. Let's make a list here, who knows, maybe Hyundai is watching?

Automatic folding side mirrors
Cooled passenger seat
8 way passenger seat with lumbar suport
Blid spot indicators in the side mirrors
Trunk that actually opens up when the remote is pushed or electric open
Option to select smart cruise on/off
Option to select nanny control on/off
Panoramic roof

If the car is running the remote will not open the trunk. Otherwise it works.

I know this but let me rephrase that. If I am walking towards the car in a parking lot I would like to hit the trunk open button and see the trunk pop open so I can put my stuff in. Now I have to physically open the trunk by hand before as the function just unlatches it unless this has been changed on the 2012 model.

The most important thing to me and the DW, is a passenger seat with 8-way adjustment and an adjustable lumbar support. That, and the lack of a decent choice of colors for the 5.0, are what's keeping me from buying.

Canada actually offers the Rspec in all colours except red and blue. ;)

I can relate, but still think you're missing out on a terrific car. We missed the passenger seat features (which we had on the BMW). Yet we take the R-Spec on day-long trips often, and both of us who have back problems have been very comfortable.

Hmmmm….
Seems this wish list comes out every year. Oh well here are my choices from last year.
1.AWD (Don’t care about the MPG hit)
2. Programmed FOB for each driver position choice (My 2007 does that)
3.Blind Spot monitoring (Can’t believe the 2012s didn’t have it)
4.Voice commands for temperature control (My 2007 does that)
5.Choice of smart or normal cruise (Yea of course… my 2007 does that)
Still all things considered it’s one hell of a car.

Sorry, but if it "ain't" red, I'll pass.

I see some of you want AWD----what for???? Besides the cost and lower mpg, it adds weight and complexity (meaning more repairs). I live in the Snowbelt (and in the country) and rarely use the 4WD of the Explorer. The only time it is nice is pulling a boat up a launch ramp--------and you can't tow anything with the Genesis.

I drove 65 miles one way to work over Minnesota roads for the last 10 years of of my working career with 2WD cars and always made it. The last couple of years was with a Mercury Marauder (RWD). It was all I needed (well, I did put Blizzaks on it in the winter).

Somebody else can buy the AWD's-------I'm not interested.

IMHO 4wd and AWD are very different and yes you would be right in your quote above if you would have said 4WD. AWD is always there and comes to play when required. Whether this be on rain slick roads, ice, snow or gravel it just works. 4WD on the other hand is something that you need to select before the fact. kinda like, look at all that snow, better put it in 4wd. It really is not the same at all in the way it works or gets selected.

I have a 4WD and have had 2 AWD vehicles. Unless you are on a muddy construction site or being young at heart and going off roading then 4WD is a waste. Put it this way. If the Genny had the AWD option I would take it.

Yes, that would be nice...and no it does not pop open on 2012.

• More front passenger compartment storage

• Updated GPS unit

I agree with CC, and a trunk lid that opens and closes automatically would be nice.

On the Explorer (and I suspect other "modern" 4WD's), the 4WD kicks in automatically if slippage from the rear wheels is detected. All that AWD does on slick roads is allow you a false sense of security that leads to higher speeds than one should be driving. An AWD vehicle (or 4WD vehicle) doesn't stop any quicker when you are driving faster than the conditions warrant and something happens in front of you.

An AWD or 4WD vehicle is particularly deceptive on black ice conditions. I always chuckled on my way to work when the conditions were slippery. Most of the vehicles in the ditches were 4WD's.

AWD just isn't worth the up-front price or the after sale costs of mpg and reliability--------unless you're planning on entering the Pikes Peak Hillclimb or something.

IMHO AWD or 4WD does nothing while travelling or stopping in slippery conditions. It sure make on heck of a difference on take off though. Agreed, most think they are safe because of AWD or 4WD, not so however. Put it this way, if the Genny did have AWD then the nanny would hardly ever engage and we would not have discussions on how to disable it :D

Some of us in the Northeast have steep driveways (or roads leading up to them). AWD definitely helps. Trust me... I came from an AWD car, which was actually STELLAR in this regard, unlike the rest of the ownership experience.

Also... here's a popular belief: AWD only helps you go, doesn't help you stop.

Again, having owned a Tiptronic AWD car, this is not exactly true. In bad winter conditions, I downshifted, which, combined with the car's AWD, made my car much much safer.

Having said all that... AWD made the car weigh more, get worse gas mileage, and was useless for all but a handful of days out of the year. I can just work remotely, from the comfort of my couch. I doubt I'll buy AWD again.

:)

My prediction for the 2013 model: new exterior colors, and maybe some new interior color choices. That's it. I don't see them touching the technology (unless some engineer figured out how to fix the bluetooth streaming...)

A coin compartment and wind sheild wipers that can be manually folded would be nice...

What do you mean by manually fold?

Folded up when washing the front window...

Folded up when washing the front window...

Let me let you in on a little secret. :grouphug: Next time you shut her down just hold the wiper stalk upwards and the wipers will park up so you can fold. ;)

In a nutshell, shut engine off, now lift stalk and hold it there until they come up.

Actually that is in the manual so you can change the blades. ;)
