Locked Out of Vehicle and 24/7 Roadside Service Response

I was a hundred miles away from home when I inadvertently locked the keys in the car in GV80. Let me tell you how this happened. I got out of car and pressed door lock on handle and walked away. I proceeded into the store and received message on remote app that the car was unlocked. I thought to myself I had locked this when I got out, but doubted myself and sent a lock message. Once leaving store and going to car and it wouldn't unlock, I realized that keys were locked inside now. Proceeded to use remote app to unlock car. Kept stating my pin was incorrect so I changed it and it still would say was wrong pin. So called Roadside Service and was advised there was no BLUELINK support on Sunday. He would send someone to unlock vehicle that I would have to sign waiver that they were not responsible if they damaged the vehicle. So needless to say took a Uber for 100 miles and come back to car with spare key. Now I have found that the app will LOCK the car but will not successfully UNLOCK. Isn't that GREAT! My old Cadillac wouldn't ever lock the keys in car. Looks like Genesis has a long ways to even match a 2022 non luxury vehilcle will not allow you to lock keys in vehicle. Quit promoting your app if you can't provide support for 24/7. This is posted under the wrong forum should be GV80

I wonder if the key being in the car had anything to do with not being able to unlock it with the app. I can lock & unlock my 2019 G80 with the app, no issue.

But what a pain...

My understanding was there is a difference between the Genesis App and the Genesis Digital Key App. So the Genesis App will NOT unlike the car if the key is in the car. You have to use the Digital Key App. Also they have had issues with the reset of pin not working within the App. Yes, I have to say wasn't how expected to spend my Mother's Day!

It seems like it should impossible to lock your car with the key inside just by pressing the door button. I certainly cannot with my G90

Can someone else test this out on their 2022 G80 so we can see if it is a problem with the model or just with @fldeena’s car. BE SURE you have the second key handy.

I am sorry for the confusion, but a quick note this was on GV80 and I can say the keys were in the little cubby where the phone charger and usb connection is. I just retested the scenario. 'I got out of car and pressed door lock on handle and walked away. I proceeded into the store and received message on remote app that the car was unlocked. So the car did not lock when pressing the handle however the app did NOT detect keys in the cubby and sent a car is unlocked alert to my phone. I then sent a lock request via the app and it does lock the car based on request sent from phone. Hopefully this clarifies the steps.

OK I get that now. However it makes no sense that the app cannot unlock the car with the key inside. Care to try that scenario again and let us know.

Assuming you have an NFC card, I wonder if you would be able to unlock using it. I always carry mine in my wallet. I often use it, keeping the Key Fob at home, but if I do use the Fob, or if the Fob battery goes, I still have the NFC in my wallet to run car.

I am a new used 2018 genesis g18 3.5 owner. What is a NFC card and where do you get them?

Don’t know if 2018’s could use NFC Cards. 2021 and 2022 do.
In my case, the NFC card did not come with the car as it should.
I, as many others had to call Genesis to have them send me one.

Card is size of Credit Card. Hold it to door handle and door unlocks or locks. Place it in wireless charger “nitch” and you can start and run car. Don’t think it’s available on 2018’s.

Thank you for responding. I just descovered that I can’t use an NfC because I have an iPhone.

iPhone or not does not matter for you or me. The 2018 does not have the NFC feature.
